I was born in Poland and moved to the US at the age of seven. I started playing upright bass when I was eighteen. Before that I perdominantly played and studied electric bass and some piano and guitar. I feel in love with the low and powerfully deep and resonant tone of the upright. With that I decided to start studding Classical Music in order to really learn the instrument which lead me to formally study classical bass for eight years. I was fortunate to have to opportunity to study with great bassist/jazz vocalist kristin Korb, and two very ground breaking bassists Bertrum Turetzky and Mark Dresser, who made their own very significant marks in the history to bass playing. I graduated from the University of Southern California San Diego in 2005 with a Jazz Studies and Performance Degree. While at UCSD I also had the opportunity to study jazz with the great pianist/saxophonist/educator Kamau Kenyatta. Upon my graduation I received The Bertrum Turetzky Award in recognition of outstanding musical community participation. Since then I've been working as a freelance bassist in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas. I have 5 years of experience playing with a Symphony Orchestra which includes The La Jolla Symphony Orchestra . I've performed in most jazz genres, including Brazilian Jazz, Bossa Nova, Latin jazz, Tango and Gypsy Jazz. I love playing, listening and learning about to all kinds of music especially Jazz, Classical and any kind of World Music, which is a very big genre.
