..
I am currently working as a solo artist, so the musicians I work with will vary. So far, I've had the honor of working with some really amazing musicians who have all worked with some of the greats! For live shows, I usually work with Gerry Brown on drums (Stevie Wonder), C.C. Thomas Jr. on bass (Diana Ross), Billy Steinway, Ming Freeman or Frankie Crawford on piano/keys (Jeffrey Osbourne), Michael Sechrest (Diana Ross) or John Huldt on guitar and Paulie Cerra (Lionel Richie) on sax!
Influences
I love Old School R&B, Blues and Jazz. I would say my biggest influences and favorite artists to listen to are Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Janice Joplin, Billie Holiday, Dianne Reeves, Nina Simone, Al Green and Marvin Gaye.
Sounds Like
I have been told I or my music sounds like several different people. The funny thing is they are all over the board! So I'll tell you what I've been told, then you can listen for yourself, come watch a show and tell me what you think! I've been compared to or reminded people of Etta James, Janis Joplin, Rikki Lee Jones, Sheryl Crow, and Dolly Parton.
Music has been a love and passion of mine all my life!
In a nutshell, I was born and raised in Southern California.
After high school, I went to music school at MI in Hollywood.
Then it was the struggling musician life, singing on demos, as a backup singer in other bands and as lead singer in my own R&B/ Funk Cover Band called Ragdoll...then, I got pregnant. My entire world turned upside down and I thought my dream of a music career was shot as I just tried to survive as a single mom. Fortunately, God had a plan and I eventually got back on my feet and then met an amazing man, my husband, who would encourage and support me when I wanted to give music one more shot so I wouldn't have to wonder "what if...". And well...here I am! I started my own label, sweet bottom records, released my debut album WHAT IF and have been performing in and around LA with some of the most AMAZING musicians! It's been an an awesome journey so far and I feel like I'm on the path I'm supposed to be on! Thanks for visiting and I hope you enjoy my music!
