Exit 131 is a virtual nexus for all New Jersey filmmakers, from the
professional to the novice, who seek to network with others for all
aspects of filmmaking. Whether you're seeking a crew for your next
big-budget feature or no-budget short, or if you're a screenwriter
looking for someone to critique your lastest script, or if you're
looking for information on color correcting for digital projection,
Exit 131 can help.
Exit 131 began as an ongoing "zero-budget" production project of the
New Jersey salon of AIVF, headed by Allen Chou of Passion River
Productions. The group of about eight or so members first met in
August of 2002 at a cafe in Metuchen, NJ (hence the name "Exit
131 Productions), and produced three short films within a year. In
2003, the group began to evolve into a networking venue, with many
members teaming up with other members to produce their own artistic
and professional projects. By 2006 there were over 100 members on
our Yahoo! Group, each of them representing every level of
involvement in film.
Our Mission:
To provide an online gateway to information and resources in order
to help create professional and artistic opportunities for video and
filmmakers who live and produce content in New Jersey.
To that end, Exit 131 seeks to attain the following objectives:
1) To stimulate and encourage film and video productions in New
Jersey - the birthplace of the film industry.
2) To give New Jersey writers the chance see their original scripts
developed for video and film projects.
3) To give New Jersey filmmaking students the opportunity to watch
and learn from experienced crew members.
4) To give experienced New Jersey filmmakers the opportunity to
take on more technically and creatively challenging roles.
5) To provide opportunities for New Jersey filmmakers to meet and
work with New Jersey actors.
6) To provide a forum for New Jersey filmmakers to showcase their work.
7) To advance the careers of New Jersey-based professionals and the New Jersey film industry as a whole.
8) To create art, not only for the sake of art, but to grow as
artists.
9) To support the artistic community in which we live and encourage
our fellow filmmakers to keep sharing their visions.
