The Exmouth Shanty Men sing with gusto! They muster wherever the tide washes them up where they sing their hearts out, tell tall tales, drink fine ales and dream of better weather.
Their live shows are heady concoctions of lusty deck songs, heartbreaking ballads and all manner of larks and tomfoolery. Audiences would do well to stay away as the jiggery and indeed the pokery of this motley crew are infamously infectious.
The lads appear in character, in period dress and almost in control of their faculties, and they are fast becoming ambassadors for the county of Devonshire (God help it) and they raise money for the RNLI and other local charities related to the sea. In the last 2 years they have helped raise over £10,000 for local causes.
ORIGINAL BLUES - Nautical Clothing and Knitwear - are proud sponsors of the crew's superb Tour Jackets.
The crew crew comprises:
Seymour Cleavage (First Mate)
Alfredo Heights (Ship's Look-out)
Albert Truss (Oarsman)
Sam Manella (Ship's Cook)
Gunner Drinkitall
Curly Quill (Bosun)
Wayne the Anchorman
Tug (the Cox),
Rob (the Handsome Cabin Boy)
Terry Firmer (Land-lubber)
Sirrius Erra (Navigator)
of the Good Ship Malarkey.
The are one of the only crews in the world to perform these wonderful songs from the golden age of sail whilst hauling ropes, pumping the bilges and turning the capstan, and they often press gang their audiences to help out! The effect is to give a glimpse of both the hardship and the humour of a sailor's life at sea.
The crew are regulars on the Festival Circuit and are constantly in demand to perform all over the country, all year round. They have just released their second album - Randy Dandy, O - a fine collection of beautifully produced and presented shanties that compliments their debut live album Rolling Home. They are regularly featured on radio stations across Europe and Aled Jones called them his kind of boy band on BBC Radio 3's The Choir!
"Exmouth Shantymen are both a surprise and a delight. They are fun, put enormous energy into their singing, look good, sound great, and our audiences loved them!"

At this year's Falmouth International Shanty Festival the lads took the crowds by storm yet again with their unique and hilarious shows, enjoying rave reviews and standing ovations. There is obviously a severe lack of chairs in Falmouth.
