Influences
Not so much influences rather than a short list of some bands we like, some bands we might sound like and stuff you really should listen to in no particlular order.
"...a passionate effort from a passionate band" - Rock Sound, May 2008
“They are a band with such pure talent, energy and outspokenness about them, that it is no wonder why their music is so inspiring.”
-Grave Concerns (U.S. E-Zine), April 2008
“Their music is raw, and sumptuous---heavily grounded in the sounds of rock and metal, but fused beautifully with melodic sounds of gothic and alternative styles---giving way to blistering results.”
-Grave Concerns (U.S. E-Zine), August 2008
“The voice of Anneka Latta is the perfect foil for overdriven guitars and crashing drums, giving a softer edge whilst still being delivered with authority and conviction”
-Telegarph and Argus, April 2008
“Exoterik are a polished band that could easily hold their own against the heavy weights of this genre”
- Room Thirteen, Live Review of Guilfest, 2007
“Anneka's voice is top notch… a band with huge potential."
- Blast 1836 Radio, Reading University, May 2008
“listen to this phenomenal album, that’ll burn up your CD player and melt your eardrums into a puddle of sensational bliss..”
-Grave Concerns (U.S. E-Zine), August 2008
“…live they are a force to be reckoned with…”
- Glasswerk, February 2006
The Anglo-Irish quartet who make up Exoterik are united by their determination and desire to create a heady mix of stomping, energetic riffage and ethereal beauty within their music.
Realising the recent changes that the power of the internet has brought to the music industry, Exoterik have retained all copyrights and ownerships of their material, ultimately making them a self-sufficient, self-promoting band on the cusp of this new digital age.
Emerging on the scene in late 2003 and with a line-up change in 2005, Exoterik toured venues up and down the UK, delivering their music and showcasing their high-powered performances, playing alongside the likes of Epica, Therepy?, Reuben, Breed 77, and Lights.Action to name but a few, as well as performing at countless major festivals around the UK.
The band travelled to Finland in late 2006 to record three tracks before venturing to Latvia in the summer of 2007 to record their début album with the multi-platinum producer John Fryer (famous for producing the HIM album ‘Razorblade Romance’ in 2000 as well as producing and mixing for artists such as; Cradle of Filth, Cocteau Twins, Nine Inch Nails and Depeche Mode).
The first single ‘Are You Alive’ was released 28 April 2008 and was soon followed by a 10 day U.K. tour with US rockers Wednesday 13. Shortly after the tour, Exoterik welcomed new bass player Darren Townes to the band line-up and continued to expand their fan base by stretching out further down the south of England and securing a U.K. date with rap-metal band Stuck Mojo.
Late 2008 also saw the release of Exoterik's début album 'Don't Swallow' which coincided with a U.K. date supporting Italian gothic metal band Lacuna Coil in Leeds.
"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."
