I try to absorb as much from every artist I listen to, but here's a small breakdown by genre...
Hip Hop: SPAZ, Twin Widow Mafia, Aesop Rock, Atmosphere, Benefit, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Lupe Fiasco, Fort Minor, Styles Of Beyond, Apathy, The Roots, The Streets, Nas, Ludacris, Eminem, Kanye West, Fabolous, Proof, Royce Da 5'9, Tupac, Gym Class Heroes, El-P, Jay-Z, Obie Trice, Tech N9ne
Rock: AAHHHH!, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, Rage Against The Machine, System Of A Down, Korn, Tool, P.O.D., Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd
and some that are a bit harder to classify...
Other: Beck, Bloodhound Gang, Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method, Fatboy Slim, Jason Mraz, Dave Rice, Prodigy, Cake, Dirty Vegas
My life in general also plays a huge role in what I write.
Sounds Like
nothing you've ever heard before... and that's why you like it.
So my name is Ryan Lord. I've been working on music now for 7 years, mostly your typical hip hop/rap music with my group/two best friends formally referred to as the SPAZ. Together, we have completed 4 full length albums that have been randomly distributed locally through Binghamton, NY. We've also had the opportunity to perform a handful of shows in the area. Most recently noted was this past summer, hesitantly known as our "final show". We are currently living in different areas of the US, but actually hope to use that to our advantage and further expand our name to new fan bases. For more information on SPAZ you can check out our myspace or soundclick page.
This page is designated for my solo projects, whether it be audio video or graphic art. As far as audio projects go, I released my first 10 track album in 2005 titled The Experimental EP. This was the start of my new vision and direction for where I'd like to see music go. I will try to keep a couple of these songs on rotation here, but you can listen to the album in its entirety on my soundclick page.
I am currently in the works of organizing for a new solo album. The Light, which needs a lot of writing and producing still, can be expected to be completed sometime in the spring or summer of '08. However, if I start getting some rough draft recordings I may post them here and keep you updated on the project's progress.
On top of my solo aspirations, I am planning on cranking out a duo EP with my boy Nick Jesenof (aka Jezzy), the drummer for the band AAHHHH! We have collabed on a couple of tracks now, the most recent being 'They Like What We Doin' which you can find on the player above. With our common thoughts and views on music, and creative innovation, I am excited to get this project done and I'm sure you will all "like what we doin".
I have never been one to discriminate musically, and am always open to collaborating with whoever has as an open mind as I do. If you are interested, message me and we'll see what we can do. I appreciate all of you checking out my music, and I will do my best to stay on top of my game and keep you posted with updates. Also, if you like my stuff, or even if you don't, you should still check out these sites...
