A selection of the strangest crop of manc. talent gigging at the moment. Prepare to have your frontal lobes sliced and diced and generally mauled over.
Stray Dog Cafe
Angular riffs and pounding rhythms from the creators of minmal dirt rock. They've played with Youth Movies, Part Chimp, Oxes and Blood Red Shoes. Sci-Fi inspired yelps and working class cynicism in an unadulterated slice of this exciting bands work to date. Last gig with current SDC founder GT the Warlock before he disapears for his paternity leave.

Benway Miasma
Upcoming jazz tinkles from the Manchester melodramatists. Nick Cave's unborn twin sister playing Flaming Lips songs at a Thelonius Monk-tribute/karaoke night in the local valium emporium feeling a bit pissed off having been sacked from the NME for writing too pretentiously...

Go Lebanon
Five pairs of eyes adjusting to multicoloured fractals of light in a dimly lit room. Circus punk, Plato doom and Ketamine lounge. Eurovision song contest hopefuls. Inventive swirls of post-rock punctuated by the more extreme tendancies of Miles Davis 'On the Corner' period.

Monster Island
3 piece 'ecstatic northern doom' merchants. Think early Pavement circa 'slanted and enchanted' mixed with the acerbic and dry wit of Lancastrian post-punks and you're not too far away from the island that we sent the big scary creatures to. Also near Blackburn.

IT'S GONNA COST SHITLOADS (£3,600 MINIMUM DONATION PLUS I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY OWN VACCINATIONS, VISA, EQUIPMENT, ANTIMALARIAL TABLETS AND PROBABLY SOME OTHER STUFF). To find out more about this amazing cause visit www.justgiving.com/emilyward and/or check out the blogs on my myspace where you can also find most of the bands playing on the night and at the next fundraiser gig (look out for that one).
