The regions of former Yugoslavia are extremely interesting, not only when it comes to politics. The Balkans states developed a very own kind of Rock n Roll, Punk and New Wave movement, which reflected and even affected the social and political situation in a unique way. The changes after Tito‘s Death in Slovenia in the early 1980s are inseparably connected to the Punk movement, which criticized the system‘s old deadbeat structures radically, and set the foundation stone for the Slovenia‘s democratization. Through Punk, animadversion on the political system became mainstream.
.. The director Emir Kusturica (Underground) is one of the most well known offshoots of the punk movement. Together with the predecessors of the „No Smoking Orchestra“, he has created the „New Primitives“ movement, a group of comedians, similar to the English Monty Python, which presented the social problems of the country a satirical way.
.. Punk bands from former Yugoslavia, such as Pankriti, Pekinska Patka or Termiti were on a par with their British ancestors, they were even superior when it comes to originality and charm.The bands did not just copy their British ancestors and counterparts, the style of the British and American bands was transposed in the national language to a new and own way of punk.
.. Today the British indie-pop still does not sound as fresh and innovative as bands like „Elektrini Orgazam“ or „Sarlo Akrobatakt“ did 25 years ago.
.. The film „Ex-Yugoslavian-Punk“ (WT) will give an overview off the 30 years of punk history in former Yugoslavia. The most exciting artists off this subculture will be portrayed in a collage, they will explain and describe the backgrounds of the Punk movement. But not only the „old heroes“ will take part of the movie, the current and younger musicians and artists will be integrated as well.
.. It is clear that this complex and versatile topic will not be explained in total within just 45 minutes. The movie will still give a rough, but solid overview. Archive and original material, as well as interview and concert footage, filmed by the producers will be one part of the movie. The material will be collected and produced on five trips to the states of former Yugoslavia. Furthermore, animated graphics will be integrated.
.. This will have a strong experimental influence to the movie. As this raises the question of the „look“ of the movie in general, it will be described here in short: In general, the documentary will have an appealing and authentic clip and collage character. As the content will determine the form, in visual matters, the form will correspond to the content. „Cut and paste“ aesthetics will be a strong stylistic device. Furthermore, the new material will be shot with an experi mental photography. The consequence of this is, that the different style formats „documentation“, „experimental film“ and „video-clip“ will be mixed and will create an unique look...

Rock n Roll, Punk and New Wave Subkultur in Former Yugoslavia. Experimental Documentary // Podrucdja bivse Jugoslavije nisu samo na Politickom podrudju izuzetno interesantna; cak i na podrudju Subkulture Balkanskih Drzava nastali su sopstveni ogranci R..n R, Punk, New Wave-a koji su reflektirali drustvene okolnosti i samim tim njihovim uticajem. Promene, koje su nastale nakon Titove smrti pocetkom ..80-tih godina; u Sloveniji direktno sa pojavom Punka, koji je radikalno kritikovao staru Strukturu i sistem i sam im tim pomagao stvaranju puta za Demokratiju.
Reziser Emir Kusturica, sa "Zabranjenim Pusenjem" i "New Primitivs", je najpoznatiji te nove Sub kulture, koji je na primeru Monty-Pythona, na satiricni nacin pokazao i obradio problem Drzave.
.. Grupe kao sto su Pekinska Patka, Pankrti i Termiti, nisu morali da se stide svog porekla, i da se skrivaju od Engleskih stvaraoca; naprotiv, kroz svoju Originalnost i sarm bili su delimicno u prednosti, posto nisu kopirali Engleski Punk. Elektricnin Orgazam i Sarlo Akrobatak su zvucali pre 25 godina svezije i novije nego danasnji Britpop.

.. Cilj filma "EX-YUGOSLAVIAN PUNK" (WT) je, pokazati 30-to godisnju Istoriju Punka u bivsoj Jugoslaviji. Mi hocemo da damo rec naj interesantnijim muzicarima u okviru Subkulture, da nam objasne izvore i uzroke u pozadini. Mi necemo samo "stare heroje" da pokazemo, nego zelimo i "mlade", aktuelnije muzicare da cujemo i pokazemo. Naravno da se u roku od 45min. nemozemo pancno ispricati sve o ovako kompleksnoj temi. Zato je ovaj film da se vidi kao Portet, koji pokazuje grubi i dubok uvid u Tematiku, a ne kao povrsnji pregled svega. (Coment: The Playtime of 45 Minutes is not definte. .. Upotrebljavani su, pored Originalnog i Arhivskog materijala, samostalni snimani Intervjui, koji su nastali u pojedinacnim delovima Zemlje. Manjak materijala cemo mi zameniti Animacijama, i to je onda eksperimentelni deo dokumentacije. Sto se tice medijske etike, on je bezprekoran. Sto znaci da je svaka dokumentacija na svoj nacin napravljena. Mi necemo izmisljati nove dogadjajnje, nego cemo proslost i secajnje rezolovati....

We heard bands like Pankrti, Pekinska Patka and KUD Idjioti for the first time in record collections of friends, who had to leave Ex-Yugoslavia during the civil war. We were fascinated and amazed from the energy these bands conveyed with their music. .. We're ambitious young film-makers with a love for Rock'n Roll, Punk Rock and Hardcore, and we hope you're going to support us realizing our biggest project yet, which is hopefully feasible, but for sure worthwhile. .. We want to shoot an experimental documentational movie about the history of Punk Rock in Ex-Yugoslavia. Therefore we'd like to interview/portrait people who can be taken as aspect to describe the Ex-Yugoslavian Punk Rock scene. No Matter if you are/was/were: .. -Fanziner

The movie is planned to be a mixture between the genres documentation and video-clip, and will contain a lot of experimental collage style stuff and animated graphics. .. As we're from Germany, we did not take part in the Ex-Yugoslavian Punk Rock history. We've neither been in Belgrad, Lubijana, nor in Zagbreb or in Riejeka during the eighties. Therefore the point of view in which we want to picture this movie will be quite "external". However, we think with your support we will be able to describe today's sub-cultural scene and retell the energy from the old days back in 1978 and the 1980s. .. The complete film is an non-commercial DIY production. .. What we want to do: filming interviews and portrays We can do this in English /Croatian / Serbian .. - filming live at your concert
- incorporate your artwork/flyers/CDs&LPs
- incorporate video/film/photo footage which already exists -etc.

What we therefore need from You:
- A little time
- admission to film at your concerts
- your artwork,flyers,CDs&LPs (yes, we'll pay for them)
