The few words that can only describe the phenomenon that is Eyes On Fire, one of the most inventive and dominating progressive metal bands to emerge from Indianapolis, IN. Eyes On Fire have come to the forefront of the Midwest metal scene and impose the sonic assault of their independently released, and self produced album: Anger To Ashes, a devastating 8 track record spanning over 40 minutes that is, in fact, both brutal and beautiful. .. .. Its inception began in 2008 when founding guitarist Shane Lanning joined friend and guitarist Eric Abner to discover their musical prowess. Teamed with drummer Jason Dinwiddie the group quickly realized they had a chemistry that demanded exploring. Completing the core line up, vocalist Sahar Montalvo laced this powerful and alluring brand of metal with exactly the right blend of melody and brutality and the addition of bassist Brian McClesky provided the final gear allowing this machine to take action. Eyes On Fire was born and began creating an aural showcase to highlight their radio-rock appeal, as well as the dark, carnal and often ferocious force that exudes Eyes On Fire’s song writing and live performance. The result: Anger to Ashes. An album that combines memorable hooks with brilliant, emotional choruses and lyrics. The attention to detail in the careful and precise arrangements and the depth and variety of emotion and power express the post-apocalyptic message in each of their stunning songs. .. .. The idea behind Eyes On Fire is powerful but simple. “We write and play the music we feel and that we’re proud to perform," explains guitarist Shane Lanning, "the type of music that people like us want to listen to. Trying to keep up with a trend or limiting your sound to the boundaries of a specific genre - that’s when you’ll lose natural creativity. We just try to have a killer time doing what we love to do.” .. .. As proven throughout their debut album, Eyes On Fire have absorbed the influences of bands such as Bullet For My Valentine, In Flames, Killswitch Engage, and Avenged Sevenfold as the primary inspirers for their sound. However, Eyes On Fire is very much a band all in its own brewing their own future brand of progressive metal.
