EZ KEWL is A Sonoma County based 5 piece group of musicians that play jazzy music. What Is Jazzy Music ? Jazzy music is what you get when you put rockin rhythm n blues and jazz together. Mixed in with their own version of cover tunes are a few originals that make you want to say, “Hey, not bad.” This easy blend of cool music goes well with cocktails, any kind of beer, Northern California wine, a damn good cup of coffee, a spot of tea, a good woman, a bad man or just sitting back groovin.

The fact that these guys individually or as a whole are always ready to do a benefit for a school, international disaster or even the local radio station endears them to the the local music community. I’ve even proclaimed the drummer Johnn Murphy (King Daddy Murr) as “The Godfather of the Sonoma Valley Music Scene” based on all the musicians he’s jammed with over the last 20-plus years. I’ve loved the previous CD releases, “An EZ Kewl Xmas,” “EZ and Friends,” and the “Hank Anderson Demos” but this release really takes the band to another level. Recorded at Ex’pression College for the Digital Arts in Emeryville, the quality of the recording really spotlights the talents of all the players. Murphy and Al Rice on bass keep the “jazzy” beats down and provide a platform for everyone else to showcase. Ed Delaney is a masterful sax player and it really shows on “On the Square,” a song written for “Ken’s Community Corner” on KSVY but it’s the versatility of the flute that he shows on “Majestic” that really got me. Michael Zee on guitar takes it up a notch on “Cold Chili.” For my money, and don’t let the title get you as I am trying to work bacon into every meal, “Bacon Stoned” really sets the standard for what these guys can do.
