San Francisco based illustrators Andy Stattmiller and Grant Gilliland have teamed up to create a wildly animated and confoundingly busy black and white exhibition aptly titled "Realistic Realities". Both drawing imagery from a cartoon lexicon that varies from the traditional to the highly abstract, Grant and Andy balance each others' unique styles with heavy patterning and absurd positioning of even more absurd characters. Stylistically, the show draws from their previous collaboration "Grant N' Andy"...a book of collaborative drawings that took place when both artists were living in different parts of California. The book was born over a year of mail correspondence and in-person "team draws" which birthed the odd graphic style that makes up the work found in "Realistic Realities".
When: Thursday, November 20, 2008 At 07:00 PM Where: A Bon Port 476 Castro between Market and 18th Street San Francisco, CA
Fabric8 fam, I'd be stoked if you witnessed this play!
Individualism and privacy versus collectivism and shared living. FRIENDS is the story of a man whose home is invaded by a family of strangers who insist on saving him from loneliness. "We are here to help," the family declares, beginning the journey into this dark comedy written by Kobo Abe (1967).
