different drummer returns to the scene of the crime on july 31st after a year incognito.
whilst trawling the oxford st strip we discovered dj LOVERTITS, who hosts and plays at HARD ON in sydney.. and of course it was inevitable that we would bring him down and introduce him to melbourne where the hard ons have brains too. DJs DANNY C and KAPITOLINA (john) will make the threesome complete. expect electro-tech-indie-pop-trash in a deliciously queer package.....
and recession or no recession -- entry is free. so why not join in for a hard disco throb on the dancefloor???

Cyril Orson (Just added) Orson arrived in Auckland two years ago from Paris and has since caused quite a stir. He’s played along side the best visiting international DJs and stunned the Auckland club scene with his ‘Sonic Tonik’ nights at Ink and Coherent. Orson runs his own record label ‘Triangle Music’ with Antix/Fiord, does visual work for dance parties and tours like Massive Attack’s, and recently his tunes have been charting on London’s prestigious Kiss100! Check out his top 5 on Cheeseontoast. co. nz this week. Or for more info see www. epaulette. tv
Meltron (Just added) Easily Auckland's DJ du jour. Recently hitting a whole new level of hype with her staggeringly large Saturday nights 'Sick Disco' at Cassette Number Nine. She's all about fusing get-up Parisian House, the beats and bass, get serious Berlin minimal, and get-the-fucking-party-star ted New York Disco. Thrashing the latest imports before they've hit the street and selecting the wicked from the wack; the true rave from the nu rave! http://www. 95bfm. co. nz/default,2181,meltron. sm

Coco Solid are underground veteran electrorappers seducing and shaking live crowds while churning out banging beats. Combining Miami and Detroit booty-bass with their own trademark minimal electro, they're rhyming about everything; sex, science and the daily grind. With a string of world wide tours, 5 releases and a double album released late last year Coco Solid are off the hook and bound to make even the most kooky of us feel sane. In performance Coco will debut some exclusive new material. She’s off on another world tour in only a few weeks, catch her while you can!
"Her magnificent mongrel beats and eloquent satirising of sex, materialism and pop culture will have you thinking, laughing and dancing, all at the same time. " - Grant Smithies - Sunday Star Times
"Coco Solid proves their wit, charm and downright sassiness... Awesome..." - Andrew Tidball - www. cheeseontoast. co. nz
The Ribbon is the striking new music project of Luke Munn and Campbell Birch. Incorporating keyboards, drum loops, guitar, vocals, and live visuals, this band captivates in a multiplicity of ways. Filled with heartfelt delicacy and awe inspiring intimacy, their music is ridiculously beautiful.
The release of their debut album (packaged in recycled cardboard) has created quite a stir, below are some reviews…
"Practically hypnotic... builds and builds upon itself, going where you don't expect before turning yet another direction...one of the best euphoric crescendos ever at about 2min 30 that just keeps going till you die. Or push repeat. " - Andrew Tidball, Cheese On Toast
"This album made me shiver.... But scaring isn't really The Ribbon's intention. It is to kind of knock you a little to the left and make you listen just a little harder. Fans of Pig Out, TV On the Radio and anything dark-dance-electro will like this. " – UnderTheRadar
I'm playing next Monday, and it should be fun. I'll be on about 9, but come at 8 for White Woods, then stay after me for Penguins! It's free. See you there, I hope. x
(It's also possibly the last show as a two-piece. Hopefully we'll have a second guitar next show!)
Fabrik- Indie Queer Night As the summer heat reaches its apex it's evident that Melbourne is in the grip of a manic dancing epidemic. Dj Drella provides an eclectic mixture of rock and electro, while an array of musicians and performers take to the stage. Fresh from summer sojourns up the coast, and having only recently relocated from LA to Melbourne, Newcastle's psychedelic hipsters Rainbow Junk open the proceedings with their enticing visions of arcadia. Next up Kitty Bang Bang sets the tone with an amorous fan dance. Hitting Melbourne with a seismic shudder the Once Overs pick up the pace with garage tinged high energy rock n' roll. Following this Miss Jadess subverts the femme fatale with her mesmerizing burlesque dance. Giving the night wings, subversive glam rockers The Vultures Of Venus take a break from their extensive festival schedule to hammer nails into their home town, if the poison hasn't left you by then, there's still delirious dancing till 5am, enough to exorcize any piddling little bite...love to see you there. Vultures of Venus ox
You bet! My mate Joey and I are planning a shoot out with our cameras. She's a wicked scene photographer from Sydney, down in Melbourne to see what's what.
