"an exhilarating rush of speed and sound...fast-paced with simple but pounding guitars and pulsing hard rock hooks evocative of Pearl Jam or Drivin' n' Cryin'."
- Everett Saucedo, The El Paso Times (on track 1: "Better from Here")
Faced Down was a San Antonio based rock n' roll band (2000-2003) that first made its mark when being featured on Texas Tracks on 99.5 KISS with two songs from their self-titled first album still making the show regularly. This rock n' roll quartet has performed at dozens of venues in Texas including The White Rabbit, O Neil's, Sam's Burger Joint, Medieval Knights, Nephew's, Lucy's (San Marcos), Trinity's Laurie Auditorium, The Green Room, Sin 13, Strutters, Banana Joe's, Atlantis, Rusty Nail Saloon, Wildhare's Booze and Adventure (EP), Papa's Cantina (EP) and other venues all over San Antonio's famous Riverwalk.
Faced Down released four albums: their self-titled debut, "More for the Common Good", "Relapse", and the latest release "Happy Ending". Faced Down has also been asked to open for such national acts as Better than Ezra, Corey Feldman and the Truth movement, Dust for Life, Eli-Stone, Mike Tramp from White Lion, F8 (featuring former teen idol Leif Garret), Gene Loves Jezabel, Outspoken, and others. Faced Down was also featured on "Staring at the Sun Vol. III" compilation CD, which has been distributed to radio stations, record labels, and industry agents all across Texas.
The main hook from Faced Down was their inability to be pigeonholed because of the fact that they have so many influences and so many different elements at work. Each member embraced completely different types of music and arts. The most common reaction to Faced Down is that each song sounds like a completely different band. In essense, they are. This comes from the fact that material from Faced Down was the product of many, many years of its members in other bands. The end result is a simple, yet technical rock sound that will blow your mind but not go over your head. Faced Down prided itself in their individual ability to play their instruments well but chooses to make the vibe of their songs just as important. Thanks to all our fans in El Paso, San Marcos, and San Antonio for supporting us and motivating us to play loud, beer drinkin', rock and fuckin' roll!!!!!!
Faced Down is a side project for Marc, J. Stephan, and Dave of Archer Avenue, who recently recorded a new record featuring Grammy Award Winning Producer Pete Anderson (of the Dwight Yoakam fame) as Executive Producer, Tony Rambo as Producer/Engineer, and Sally Browder on production and editing. The album is called We Watched the Headlights, We Watched the Stars. Check out Archer Avenue's MYSPACE Page hear songs from Headlights and to see when the band is playing.
Current Faced Down Members:
Marc Sauceda - Lead Guitar/Vocals
Marc Sauceda has combined his metal/jazz/& country influences into a unique brand of guitar-driven rock which has become the most apparent force behind Faced Down's sound. His vocal style combines his love of melody with the crunch and grit of his beloved hard rock influences.
David Volk - Drums/Vocals
David Volk developed his double-bass driven drum sound from the El Paso metal scene with Warhole (Marc Sauceda, Ivan Parra, & Richard Solis) and Black Eden; combining his raw vocal style with the others to round out Faced Down.
J. Stephan- Bass
J. Stephan is a seasoned bass player who has played with virtually eveyone in the SA music scene. He is a big part of Faced Down's live sound and really holds the shit down motherfucka!
Past Members:
Ivan Parra - Guitar
Ivan Parra has taken his rock influences and worked them into his rhythms to serve as the backbone of Faced Down. His lead guitar playing creates a Thin Lizzy-type harmony sounds when combined with Marc.
Dave Bernosky - Bass
Dave Bernosky had mastered the art of drinking beer and playing bass at the same time. His contributions to Faced Down's sound are in the form of live shows while maintaining a strong grip on warm tones and beer, beer, beer. Big Dave's bass playing is as solid as ever, reflecting his 80's metal influences like Sepultura, Megadeth, and others.
