About Faces And Laces
Moscow is the serious and important platform for contemporary streetfashion culture in Russia and this market here is not developed yet. With our project we want to bring new and innovative tendencies to Russia and to gather interests of russian talented street-artists, illustrators, graphic designers, sneakerfreaks, streetwear brands and shops who are into the last trends of fashion, mostly connected with street and urban culture.

Faces and Laces exhibition is not a tradeshow or common fashion show.
All streetwear brands and shops can not only present showrooms, but have the exact task: to make an art-object or installation and to involve artists for various collaborations. Also we give an opportunity for the selected russian artists to customize cult models of the sneakers, each artist works with classic blank model of sneaker and connects his art with the surface of the shoe.

For the russian audience there is a good chance to hangout and to chill, to have free drinks, to check interesting clothing design, shoe design, new and rare vinyl and plush toys, art-books and mags, various limited edition stuff.
First exhibition took place at the gallery "Moscow Center of Art" and
last four days (8-11 February, 2007). Each day was dedicated to the special visual and music program.
1st day: official opening of the sneakers customizing exhibition and presentation of Shikito toy customs by russian artists. Music: garage/grime/nu rave
2nd day: graffiti photodocumentation/video day. Music: northern soul/funk
3rd day: presentation of the new russian Parkour video. Music: raggagarage/raggajungle
4th day: last day + afterparty, conference of the exhibition participants. Music: minimal/techno
Best russian DJs supported our project: Fstep, Anatoly Ice, Mob Kid, Profit, OLS SS .
And our fabulous artists: Pain Brakerz, Scheme, Adha and Ita Foker, Karina Kino, Viktor (TSM's), Tear (KGS), Sicksystems, Influx, Takloo, True Stilo and many many others.
Besides all, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of Nike Airforce1, the icon of the exhibition in 2007.
So, as you can see our main idea is to connect high-quality art, urban actual streetwear design, music and motion each year in Moscow. Now we are working hard to present you Faces and Laces in the april of 2008!

Бакалавр английского языка, Жан Жак Ка-дэй a.k.a. J-Live в андеграунде «Большого Яблока» имеет уважение не меньшее, чем его друзья DJ Spinna, Pete Rock или DJ Jazzy Jeff. Десять лет назад в Библии хипхопа, журнале Source, о нем написали в культовом разделе Unsigned Hype, где появлялись эмси без контракта, но с большим будущим. Тогда точность Source была поразительной – в Unsigned Hype в свое время побывали и 2Pac, и B.I.G., и Mobb Deep, и 50 Cent, и Eminem, и Common. Судьбу Тупака или, не дай бог, 50, Джей-Лайв не повторил – хронические беды с лейблами, его подписывавшими, привели к тому, что первый релиз, “The Best Part”, вышел только в 2001-м. Зато там была музыка DJ Premier из Gangstarr, Prince Paul и Pete Rock, а все, кому надо, знали J и без альбомов. Чуть позже он сам освоил драм-машину с сэмплером, и стал производить теплейший нью-йоркский саунд ничуть не хуже своих учителей. В 2005-м бутлегом вышел мэш-ап из его лучшего альбома “The Hear After” и работ знаменитого вибрафониста Рой Айерса . В прошлом году J-Live перебрался на очень правильный лейбл BBE, где в последнее время собираются хорошие люди вроде DJ Vadim, и выпустил EP “Reveal The Secret”.
