Rising from the ashes of the 'd.fazed' promotion collective in Manchester UK, Faction Music, comprising Faction Recordings, Faction Digital & Faction Promotions, is the new global brand for this young and precocious group of forward-thinking producers, DJs, MCs, promoters and visual artists/graphic designers.
The group have previously hosted a number of nights in Manchester, under the 'Re:mission' moniker, featuring UK artists Audio, Dom & Roland and Unknown Error, as well as international acts such as The Upbeats, Black Sun Empire and Psidream. With the night's reputation now firmly established and after a recent hiatus from the scene, the decision was been made to move forward as Faction Music, elevating the groups aspirations and taking the project to the next level.
The Faction imprint is an outlet for drum and bass artists worldwide to release music in both vinyl and digital format. The label's identity is built around, but not solely restricted to, the darker, 'tech' aspects of the genre. With the emphasis on originality and intelligent, meticulous production, listeners will be taken on a relentless journey in or out of a club environment. Output draws heavily on the more techno-influenced elements of the drum and bass spectrum, as pioneered by artists such as Raiden & Black Sun Empire, and carried forth by a growing pool of new artists, including the likes of Proket, Masheen, The Sect & Audio.
Working with producers at the forefront of our sound alongside rising young starlets, Faction aims to genuinely push the scene forward, exploring the boundaries of rave music in the process. With a commitment to championing these pioneering and innovative talents, Faction Recordings is more than ready to usher in the third decade of drum and bass.
Faction's output is divided between both vinyl and mp3 format. The latter, Faction Digital, provides not only digital versions of vinyl releases, but also a number of exclusive digital-only downloads never to be released on vinyl. Through Faction Digital, tunes, only hours old and from every corner of the earth, will be available to buy with minimal delay. Up and coming artists will be introduced through Faction Digital before appearing on our vinyl imprint, so keep an eye open to hear them first.
