  • Bio

FACTORY MINDS is a social statement. "Factory Minds" refers to a narrow and one way track of thinking which the masses blindly follow. The band, FACTORY MINDS stands for individualism, questioning corrupt authority and takes a stance on social and political injustices of the present. In their songs, Factory Minds writes about issues of post-9/11 America, personal philosophy, and takes a swing at sarcastic pop. Factory Minds refuses to be dumped into one specific musical genre which is clearly reflected in their music. The group has played and continues to play a wide variety of shows ranging from Power Pop, Hardcore punk, Oi! and Reggae, which are all apparent as their influences. In early 2008 Rob Van West III (guitar/vocals) founder and ex member of hardcore punk act Call To Arms along with Sergio (drums), decided to start a music project also inviting Brando (Guitar/Vocals) and Noah (Bass/Vocals) after the slowdown of their power-pop band, The Last Chordz. Factory Minds started as a side project that quickly shifted to a full time band after receiving a lot of attention at their practice spot which was at a well known San Jose party house that had a constant flow of people and crazy times. It was at this house where they put out their first self-recorded demo with songs such as "Factory Minds", "Better Days" and "Drunk Tank". In the Summer of 2009 Rob decided to leave the band to pursue a career overseas. Brando, Sergio and Noah felt that it was necessary to continue and without hesitation recruited Joel (guitar/vocals), whom Sergio had been playing in other bands with for almost 10 years. Joel adapted quickly and picked up where Rob had left off without changing their style and added a bit of a harder edge to their live performance. In the same summer Factory Minds was in the middle of recording their first album, "AMERICA'S NOT AT WAR" to be released on THE DOWNTOWN ACADEMY records. Rob rejoined the group in March of 2011 to promote the upcoming album and write new material. ...... ......
