Born to Evangelist Charlotte Brown and Derrick Knox on June 12, 1981, Fa'Darryl C. E. Brown grew up on the south side of Chicago. Raised by a pastor and an evangelist, Fa'Darryl knew at a very early age that ministry was apart of his calling. He began singing and writing songs at the age of 6 for the children's choir of his church, and at the age of 11 became one of the youngest pianist/organists and adult choir directors in Chicago.
While attending Roger Sullivan High School on the far North side of Chicago, Fa'Darryl began to express his God given talents more extensively as he began writing and starring in numerous plays for the Rogers Park's Insight Arts and Higher Authority Community Centers in Chicago. He also became an active participant in many local area talents shows and contests. His talents led him to the Regal Theater of Chicago where he was the opening act for several local Chicago area artists.
It was not until Fa'Darryl graduated from the Paidea honors program of Roger Sullivan High school that he determined within himself to become a professional musical artist. He enrolled in People's Music School where he studied vocal training and music theory. He continued to sing and write music for his church while he furthered developed his musical skills as an artist. He soon joined the R&B turned gospel group E.L.I.T.E., and was given the grand opportunity to tour with Destiny's Child in Europe as their opening act by CLEAR CHANNEL Entertainment.
Eventually Fa'Darryl fell in love with a lovely young lady, and in 2001 decided to pursue another dream, marriage, as he became engaged, and enrolled in Saint Xavier University as a Biology, later turned English, major. He continued to sing and write, and soon went on to co-write and star in the hit musicals "Nebuchadnezzar" and "As for Me and My House". He also co-starred in the acclaimed "Men of Might" gospel concert, where he testified and ministered to the hearts of the people the testimony of his mother's miraculous resurrection. Other performances and venues that Fa'Darryl has performed in include The Dusable Museum, Chicago State University, Mile High Performance Studios, and Danny Glover’s Sponsored National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty just to name a few.
Currently, Fa'Darryl is set for graduation from college in May of 2007. He is the proud Vice President of OneFLO Entertainment, as well as a vocalist and the co-writer of such smash hits as "Hot Pot of Grits", "Love of a Woman", "It's Okay", and "Free" set to be released on highly anticipated compilation album of OneFLO Entertainment in April of 2007.
As a vocalist Fa'Darryl is comparable to such talents as Tonex, Brandy, Rudy Currence, and Dave Hollister. As a writer he is comparable to John Legend, Babyface, and Missy Elliot. He greatest influences are his family, who always inspires and encourages him to do better, his mother, who inspired him to do music, and his pastor (Pastor Yolonda Hunt of True Holiness Pentecostal Church), who gives him the Word of God clear and directing from the Lord, and his friends, who keep a smile on his face and are supportive of all his endeavors.
Award winning singer, songwriter, minister, artist, dancer, actor, playwright, and composer, there appear to be nothing that Fa'Darryl can not do. He, however, accredits all of his talents and gifts to God. He is never afraid to confidently assert, "Without God I am a whole lot of nothing".
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!
