Faded Paper Figures began, like all great endeavors, as a side-project. Writing songs between dissertation chapters and frenetic bouts of southern California traffic, John (vocals/guitars) and Kael (guitars/keys/machines) were simply looking for an aesthetic and rigorous diversion. Two or three songs into the process, however, things started sounding incredible--much too good to have come from Kael's apartment bedroom. Eventually Heather (additional vocals/keys) began adding some beautiful harmonies, and FPF became the brilliant blend of indie-tronic chamber pop that dazzles and sizzles on every track in their debut album, "Dynamo."
"This year, the Pentagon will employ 27,000 people just for recruitment, advertising and public relations — almost as many as the total 30,000-person work force in the
State Department."
That’s from an Associated Press investigation, "which found that over the past five years, the money the military spends on winning hearts and minds at home and abroad has grown by 63 percent, to at least $4.7 billion this year."
Staff costs take up most of the money, more than $2 billion. Another $1.6 billion goes into recruiting. About a half-billion goes towards "psychological operations, which targets foreign audiences." And, finally, "$547 million goes into public affairs, which reaches American audiences."
When I found out that FPF had a new album out, I was like, yes! I cannot describe how well and beautifully this music is set up for us listeners. The vocals are amazing. How the music is played is just right. I sound like a usual fan typing this, but it truly is. I am thankful I found out about you guys in the first place. From that moment on is when I was guided from your tunes to keep listening. Thank you, thank you, FPF. You deserve so much for your willingness to share to the world.
We were just wondering...what they hell are you up to in this crazy world. Stop by and let us know. Push play on one of our tunes and dig it for a second. Stop and be grateful that we haven't all just spun so completely out of control, that we fly into the atmosphere and forget to appreciate one another. Thank you so much for your contributions to this world. We think you kick ass and deserve a Scooby Snack.
