2006, 2007 and 2008 CT Blues Challenge Finalists Fade to Blues is Fairfield and Westchester County's hardest rockin' ORIGINAL blues band. Driven by two guitars, every song that we write is from our hearts and based on truth and the lives that we have lived. Some of it humorous, much of it painful, all of it written to make us ALL feel good!
The comparison to certain guitar players from Texas and Georgia is obvious, and yes, we cover songs by many blues artists but, at this point in our musical lives, we're about telling our own stories.
Formed in the spring of 2006 by Greg McCullough and Brian Ready, the band went into the studio imediately to record their recently released cd; "In the Dark". By August they were finalists in the CT Blues Society 2006 Blues Challenge. Their combined email list totals over 1000 addresses.
Wilton, CT resident, Brian Ready has played his instrument "since the Beatles". Some of his earliest influences were Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, and The Allman Brothers. In the mid 70's Brian was covering material by Larry Coryell, Billy Cobham, Frank Zappa and a host of other Jazz/Rock/Fusion artists. He made an original funk/fusion recording with his band Birtfo (Blow It Right The F....K Out) in the mid 80's and a solo fusion album in the early 90's. "My playing was very complicated then", Brian says, "in the early 90's I heard Stevie Ray and he turned my head around. His music took me right back to the basics of the blues, thank god!" Since then he has steeped himself in the music of; Albert Collins, the Kings, Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon, Elmore James, Robben Ford and many other bluesmen.
Brian has played with a number of artists including; The Definitive Soul Project, The Syndicate of Soul, Mom Said No, The King St. Blues Band, Paul Nelson and The Drifters. He also fronted his own band, The 7 South Blues Band, for fifteen years.
Brian's approach to the music of Fade to Blues is "...all about heart and soul. It's not something I'm thinking about at the time, it's just happening between all of us. It's pure, it's love, it's simple, uncomplicated and unstoppable once the door has been opened. Our music is true blues because it comes from deep within."
