For a good introductory treatise on the subject of The Craft (I think it's the best on the 'net, despite its use of the derogatory term "fluffy bunny"), pay a visit to Wicca for the Rest of Us. If the link is not working because MySpace still thinks this is a spam website (which it most assuredly is not), the URL is http:// wicca . timerift . net, (no "www") -- just remove the spaces and type it in yourself.

PhotobucketI'm not very enamored with MySpace's blogging capabilities (especially the administrative aspect), so I hope you will drop by my WordPress blog, Faerie?Kat's Faerie?Korner

    Eats & Drinks

I love herbal tea (also known as tisane) and these are my favorites:

PhotobucketFrom Simpson & Vail, I adore any of their fine tisanes, which you will find under Tea - Herbals - Blends, and I especially recommend Moonlight in the Garden and Verry Berry. The Banana Rooibos is excellent and the Rootbeer Rooibos is fantastic iced.

PhotobucketFrom Tea Gcshwendner, I like to prepare these loose leaf teas using a French coffee press: Under Fruit Tea, try Sensual Affair, Mr. Ollivander’s Magic Potion, or Fireside Glow; under Rooibush, try the Rooibush Cream Caramel

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

PhotobucketAt Mountain Rose Herbs, where you will find the best quality and best priced herbs available, you will also find the most delicate and beautiful tea I have ever found, fabulous hand-sewn flowering teas produced in remote tea gardens in the southwestern Yunnan province of China; you’ll want to brew these teas in a glass tea pot to watch the tea flower unfurl

I am, and this is putting it kindly, a horrendous cook, so here are my favorite eateries:

PhotobucketCarrabba’s Italian Grill, there isn’t anything on their menu I haven’t tried and I haven’t absolutely loved (well, okay, I don't love their pizza; give me good old Pizza Hut any day!); I could live on their vegetables alone; best chain restaurant ever

PhotobucketLonghorn Steakhouse, right now they have a margarita made with pomegranate that is to die for (almost!)

PhotobucketFlying Fish Café, at the Disney Boardwalk, get hooked on the fabulous fish and sizzling steaks at this restaurant featuring creative cuisine
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

PhotobucketLa Coquina, at the Orlando Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, is 5 star dining at its best; dinner is 7 courses; Sunday brunch is non-traditional, set up in the chef’s kitchen, and (of course) the champagne flows continuously; the dining area overlooks Lake Windsong, complete with beautiful swans; tres romantique

    Scents & Such

When you just want the best, these are my faves:

PhotobucketHere are my latest finds in natural incense and perfume: I highly recommend Mermade Magickal Arts and the faery magic of Katlyn. The “stick” incense of Japan does not use a bamboo splint or artificial (harmful) ingredients, and most people who usually find incense unbearable find real Japanese incense to be wonderful (there are even smokeless varieties!). Try an electric warmer to heat loose resin or experience loose incense “kodo” style. I recommend switching from quick-light charcoal to Japanese charcoal blocks and ash (used instead of sand) because they do not have any odor and do not take very much longer to get started. Check out Essence of the Ages for great selection, pricing and fast shipping.
PhotobucketAt Patchouli Garden, you will find the most fantastic incense, body spray and roll-on oil fragrances available anywhere
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

PhotobucketThe Unique Boutique has the best collection of smoking pillars, both wood and soapstone, for burning stick incense; beautiful pieces of art that safely burn incense with no messy ash residue – and at great prices, too
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

PhotobucketMy favorite online source for candles and body butter is Pacifica; herbs, florals, fruits, spices, and woods and resins; their fragrance line is delightful
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

PhotobucketFor good quality and a wide selection at a good price, the best aromatherapy website is One Planet Aromatherapy

    Tarot

PhotobucketMy favorite tarot deck is the Mystic Faerie Tarot (of course!). To see copies of the beautiful artwork and read an excellent review, click here... Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
PhotobucketCheck out the website of Janet Boyerfor the best reviews of tarot decks and viewing sample cards, hands down

PhotobucketTo protect your decks with the finest bags and cases available at decent prices, visit Tarot Totes; I highly recommend the marbled cotton embroidered bags (the detailed artwork is stunning) and the padded cases (superb workmanship)

PhotobucketTwo and a Half Men reruns (now I think I have a crush on Charlie Sheen!)

I'm an avid reader. I moved around a whole lot during my childhood and even though I made friends easily, books were the quickest friends to make!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

These are the books that I'm currently reading and working with:

PhotobucketRe-reading all of R.J. Stewart’s books: “The Living World of Faery,” “The Well of Light,” “Earth Light,” “The Underworld Initiation,” “The Spirit Cord,” “Power Within the Land,” “The Spirit of Art,” “Advanced Magical Art.” “Magical Tales,” and “Walker Between the Worlds”
PhotobucketRe-reading "The Faery Teachings" by Orion Foxwood

PhotobucketThe "Hitchhiker's Guide" series by Douglas Adams
PhotobucketThe "Myth" series by Robert Asprin
PhotobucketThe "Xanth" series by Piers Anthony
PhotobucketThe "Southern Vampire Mysteries" series by Charlaine Harris

Photobucket"Fairy Tales" by the Brothers Grimm
    Photobucket"Black Beauty" by Anna Sewell
Photobucket"Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carol

You may think the following books were written only for, by and about women, but men love them, too (and are required reading if they ever want to become a Spud Stud), and are so funny you will spit tea on the pages as you read them (if you are a tea drinker, that is, although margarita drinkers are also welcome, as you will see):

PhotobucketEleanor of Aquitaine (one of the wealthiest and most powerful women in Europe during the High Middle Ages)
PhotobucketMary of Magdalene (no matter what you believe her true historical role to be during and after the life of Jesus of Nazareth, there's no disputing that this lady wasn't sitting at home in meek seclusion doing needlepoint)
PhotobucketJesus of Nazareth (setting the issue of deity aside, his message -- when stripped of all the elaborations and interpretations heaped upon it over the centuries -- is so pure and true that it resonates with the core of all paths to spiritual enlightenment)

Hakkımda:

Evil, wicked, mean and nasty - NOT!

Well, maybe a little bit wicked, but only in the very best way.

I'm a beautiful, talented, funny, kind and wonderful… Witch! A practitioner of the Craft, Witchcraft. A solitary practitioner (no covens for me), I am drawn to ethereal nature spirits such as the Fae (they temper my extremely analytical "work-centered" mind and bring out my playful, inner child), but I also study and incorporate many other traditional and non-traditional elements in my eclectic workings.

For me, the practice of Witchcraft brings the freedom to commune directly with Divinity. I do not want or need a go-between in order to experience the Divine. I believe in the Goddess, God and the All-In-One from which all came, comes and will return, but I do not believe in Satan or the Devil. The concept of the Devil is purely a Christian concept. As a practitioner of the Craft, I acknowledge, accept and value the existence of both light and dark, life and death, and know that one does not exist without the other, but I do not believe in Heaven or Hell.

I believe in reincarnation and karma; I believe that matter can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be transformed; and I believe in the teachings of Jesus, but I don’t accept what has been done or created in his name. I support the right of every individual to seek spirituality as they see fit, but I don’t accept anyone’s assertion that their way is the only and right way to approach Divinity.

My way works for me; it doesn’t work for everyone and I don’t expect it to. Through the Craft, I am actively striving to bring more love and support into my life and to bring more love and support into the lives of others. It’s my hope that, once you get to know me and learn more about magic and the Craft (see my blog), you will see that Witch only accidentally rhymes with bitch!

I'm also a retired civilian Contract Negotiator for the US Navy. There could not have been a better job for a woman, in my opinion -- spending other people's money!! My expertise was in the field of research and development, first for submarine technology and then simulation and training technology (really cool stuff, the stuff that eventually ends up in hi-tech video games). But in all seriousness, I am very proud of our Troops and know that the research efforts I supported have made their lives and their unfortunate duties safer.

I retired in May of 2006 as a result of the debilitating effects of Hereditary Angio Edema (if you want to know more about this life-threatening condition, please click here; you can help support the HAE community financially without spending a penny just by using the GoodSearch search engine (click here) and entering "HAE" when asked who you search for).

So now I finally have oodles of time to read for pleasure and spirit, and have added five more bookshelves to house my growing metaphysical treasure-hoard and resources. I'm increasing my knowledge of herbs and oils, creating my own potions and lotions, soaps and scents, incense and candles, jewelry and art. I've finally opened an on-line boutique to share some of the items I've created, too. Here are some of the Faerie Fabulous Finds available right now:

I love children; especially other people's children. I decided at an early age not to have children (am I the only one who remembers the "population explosion?") because of my HAE, so I play "mother" to three adorable Yorkshire Terriers (and for a few years I was a Girl Scout troop leader with two of my also-childless girl friends – it was just the closest we could get to being Grandmothers – spoiled them rotten, got them hyped up and messy, then sent them home for their parents to deal with!). My three surrogate four-legged children, Mindy, Teddie and Mickey, have been more than enough to keep my hands full and fill my life with an incredible amount of joy (and strenuous brushing!).

Faeries, fairies and the fae!

From the time I started to read at the age of two, I have been in love with all the denizens in the Realm of Faerie, not just the light and airy winged variety.

courtoffaeries1.jpg

As beautiful and dainty as they are, they don't encompass the totality of the fabric of reality and creation. Wherever there is light, there must dark be also. In the world of the fae this rule holds just as true as it does in ours. So give me:

Brownies, Boggarts,
and Banshees,
Dryads, Dragons,
and Dwarves,
Gnomes, Grims
and Gryphons,
Kelpies and Knockers,
Pixies and Phookas,
Sprites, Sylphs, Spriggans, and Selkies,
changeling.jpg Changelings, Elves,
and Hobgoblins,
Leprechauns, Merfolk,
Nymphs, trows.jpg and Trows,
Unicorns, Will O’ the Wisps,
and even the Bogeyman!

I love meeting other neo-pagans and witches, both male and female, regardless of the path they follow, and have met many wonderful practitioners here on MySpace already. I’m the first to acknowledge that I can’t possibly know everything there is to know, and I’m eternally educationally thirsty.

What I want from each human relationship is dependent upon each individual -- so I never pre-judge what that relationship is going to be. Therefore, every relationship must start with simple communication. If I met the right person, a long term commitment is possible -- but I am not actively pursuing one right now.

I'm very interested in meeting other men and women with HAE to share our experiences, trials and tribulations. Those interested in learning about the HAE Association can click here. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have, but please remember that I can only offer my personal experience and opinion—and I could be [shudder and gasp] wrong, wrong, wrong—as HAE is highly variable from individual to individual, so it goes without saying that what works for me might not work for anyone else.

So visit me often because I’m faerie much housebound until I can self-administer the new HAE treatment, Cinryze. Goddess bless and faerie blessings!
