August 6 2008 Our debut album has been reviewed by Radioindy.com. Here's what they said: “Fagan & Payne” is the self-titled debut featuring a well-crafted collection of songs that are classically upbeat with a touch of broodiness from UK artists Fagan & Payne. Kelly Fagan's voice wraps itself beautifully around Lucho Payne's wonderful and diverse acoustic guitar work. Their relationship leaves little need for trickery; rather, Fagan & Payne are all about great melodies, a naturally distinct sound, and great performances. Although they have their own styles, the two incorporate several genres into their act, including alternative and pop rock, lounge, and jazz, and they do it with ease. This album is well-recorded with an intimate quality that makes you feel as though you could hear a pin drop. Highlights include the opener, "The Story of Me and You," which sets the tone right off the bat, creating an immediate window into the concept, and includes some cool hand claps, a lovely guitar progression, and a crisp vocal. "Dear Dear Me" features a great loung e jazz progression and a warm vocal performance. "Started Thinking (Stuart Boldt Remix)" wraps up the album with a great layering of vocals, thumping beat, and a simple acoustic progression and extreme danceability. January 2008 - album news... the mastering is complete... just trying to sort out art-work and get the pressing process under way.
November 2007 - album news... the mastering process is almost complete - sounds good. Next stage is sorting out the art-work and getting the pressings done.
October 2007 - we're doing a gig with our band on November 9th - see upcoming shows. It's basically "rock" versions of our acoustic set: Kelly on vocals, Lucho on electric guitar, Patrick Walsh drums and Pete Westmore on bass.
October 2007 - On the album front, we've got 10 tracks ready for mastering... well almost. Also, we've lined up a gig for Friday November 9th at the Red Room (Comedy Pub, 7 Oxendon Street, Piccadilly Circus, SW1) - it's a full band gig with Patrick Walsh on drums and Pete Westmore on bass. Part of a Big Note promotion with a few other bands / acoustic acts. Come along... the more the merrier!
May 2007 - we're lining up some gigs for June... come along and see us!
May 2007 - blimey... where does the time go? It's May already and we still haven't finished the album and haven't played anywhere for ages....
March 2007 - still working on the album - just uploaded a track from it: "Dear Dear Me"...
February 2007 - album progress: Kelly has recorded the vocals for 9 tracks.... we're (slowly) getting there...
October 2006 - album news: We've been a bit quiet on the gig front lately as we are trying to record an album... so far we've recorded the guitar parts for 10 tracks... the next step will be for Kelly to add the vocals.
We are recording at Stuart Boldt's studio in Faversham... and we also hope to get a few remixes done by... Stuart himself... and also by Max Rael of History of Guns (check out Max and the History of Guns via our friends page)... and possibly a few others...
