With a range of influences from American roots to lo-fi pop, Richmond, Va based songwriter Hayley Rupe has crafted an intimate, soulful debut album with equal parts darkness and light.
Recorded and produced largely at their home studio by veteran musician (and husband) Bob Rupe (The Silos, Cracker), her songs, painted in broad strokes, take on a well-worn patina.
Many other seasoned musicians contributed their talents to this release including: Chris Cacavas (Green on Red), Johnny Hott (House of Freaks, Sparklehorse), Stephen McCarthy (Long Ryders, The Jayhawks), Linda Pitmon and Steve Wynn (Steve Wynn & The Miracle 3).
From lo-fi gem 'Not On My Mind' to the raw, plaintive rock of 'Heavy Heart', Light So Bright combines honest songwriting with gritty guitars, sparkling textures and solid grooves.
