About me:
Our group was established in May 2005 as part of the RSA (Royal Society of Arts)
Coffeehouse Challenge to promote the advancement of Fairtrade and related issues in Eastbourne.
The group has now adopted core objectives for our campaign:
To campaign for and help facilitate obtaining Fairtrade Town Status for Eastbourne.
To raise awareness and encourage the supply of Fairtrade Mark goods of all kinds
in the widest possible range of businesses in our town.
To raise awareness and encourage the purchase of Fairtrade Mark goods of all kinds
by as many local and visiting shoppers to Eastbourne.
To campaign for key local organisations such as the Borough Council,
schools, churches, theatres, public leisure and catering facilities to
stock and offer Fairtrade food and goods options.
Who I'd like to meet: People who want to support Fairtrade Eastbourne campaign or Fairtrade generally.
People who manage a company or own a company or people who are in charge of procurement and anyone who has some influence over what products are bought at work. We'd like to convert as many Eastbourne businesses to Fairtrade as possible. Get in touch and we can help you source Fairtrade products.
Also get in touch if you want to give your time to help the campaign......or you can just add us to your friends. adding us to your top friends will make us very happy!

Hey all, Just letting you know that we have released a new range of fair trade sneakers and business shirts. The Sneakers are made in Pakistan, have a sustainable rubber sole, and the price you pay has a premium that goes to funding small business and an extensive healthcare program, as well as paying a wage that allows the workers to provide for their families, resulting in children going to SCHOOL, not SLAVERY! The Business shirts are made in Argentina in a worker owned co-operative, wherein the workers have bought the factory, and thus decide their own conditions. We still make our Soccer, AFL, Rugby, Netball and Volleyballs, all fair trade, and the only call certified not to have child labour in the production. Thanks folks and keep up the good work, Adam ESP- Etiko www.etiko.com.au "Social Justice... dont just talk about it"

Just inland from the idyllic beaches of the Dominican Republic, where U.S. vacationers capture some winter sun, slavery is thriving along with the cane in the county’s sugar plantations. Almost all the work product from this slave labor ends up in the United States. Imported under favorable terms, the sugar price is fixed at up to double that of the world market, with the Dominican Republic receiving the highest import quota from the U.S. government. The documentary, The Price of Sugar, tells the story of a priest’s journey of discovery in the sugar plantations of San Jose de Los Llanos in Dominican Republic.
