FAKEBESTFRIEND is every "friend" who never has time to call you back or see you but signs onto MySpace every day. =D
FAKEBESTFRIEND is one person with the exception of occasional collaborations. I started writing music in 2001 and released my first songs on myspace and through friends from livejournal VIA AOL Instant Messenger.
From there my music translated into collaborations with fellow internet artists. By focusing on the obsession of beauty and vanity in our American society, the idea of FAKEBESTFRIEND zeroed in on something that works. My music is a trip into my head. A trip through all of my thoughts and opinions and perceptions of the world around me. You can like it, or not.

Many people try to re-create my ideas, or sound like me. But there is one original. And if you take a second to listen closely, you'll be able to tell that I'm not just well marketed but well endowed with talent.

"You take a sip and lose yourself and I will put your finger down your throat and force you to throw-up the bullshit that our media and society has brainwashed you to believe is truth and beauty. All while you shake your ass on the dancefloor to a hot electro track."


With the underground release of "Anorexia" in 2001, Fakebestfriend soon became a hit with highschool/pre-teen crowd and soon boys, girls and in-betweens who faced the harsh reality of a judgemental society (and the angst of wanting to fit into size double zero jeans). Everyone likes to dance and have fun, and when the factor of "real" is thrown into the mix, it makes it all the better.

FAKEBESTFRIEND is every person who has ever held you through a rough time in your life, and then fed you to the dogs when it suited them most. I am the friendship bracelet of lies that you wear around your wrist with the hopes that it actually means something. In reality, among the superficiality of vanity there is no substance holding any of your relationships together.

"In vanity, the wide road is insanity"

All your "friendships" signify is how superficial human relationships can be and in turn how superficial friendship has become in our society. "Don't friend me unless you are beautiful".

Many people use the line: "I don't need a huge 'about me' to express myself" but the truth is they don't have the capacity to do so. Not to mention, they lack the depth that would keep anyone interested anyway. I'm Benjamin; Ben; Benz.
I'm a professional ballet dancer, musician, model and makeup artist.

I was born and raised in Hawai'i on the island of Oahu and I moved on my own to california when I was 15 to train at the San Francisco Ballet School. After dancing in the San Francisco Ballet Schools summer programs for 3 years, I moved to Marin County across the Golden Gate Bridge permanently. Marin County fosters one of the highest averages of per capita income in America, more hybrid cars than black people and some of the most liberal attitudes in the world. I've been everywhere from 5 star french cuisine and private parties to cheerios for lunch and ramen for dinner.

During years of professional ballet training I had a secret life of creating electro music and posting it on MySpace where I had developed over 100,000+ fans thanks to my profile pictures of me in my underwear and my songs about Chanel necklaces hitting Mary-Kates ribcage and Star Jones' twinky-inhaling fat ass. Soon after I gained a MySpace following, my profile was hacked and I was forced to delete my converted MySpace band profile completely. And that is when I decided to I took 5 months off from MySpace. Then in August of 2005, I signed back onto myspace and re-released my music to my fans. It's about the music, not about some made-in-china quality internet fame and I realized I had a responsibility to myself not to let some asshole asian hack my profile and ruin my fun. (although, I still have a fondness for asians) I'm obsessed with asian girls and boys. I want to collect and store them in glass windowed china cabinets like collectable dolls.

I have an obsession with beautiful people and things and I constantly surround myself with them.

I write, produce, create, record, market and sell ALL my own music on my OWN. The only person I'd ever thank for "helping" me is Tom Anderson for creating a place like MySpace where I've been able to showcase my work.


Fakebestfriend is slowly becoming a cultivation of online music-collaboration. Collaboration is a great way to grow as an artist, you learn so much about yourself and about your art. Working with artists from west coast to east coast, UK & france has opened my eyes to the difference in styles and technique of the creation of electronic music.

Have fun and say "fuck".The main thing is to remember not to take yourself too seriously. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything.

America is the home of convenient-propaganda (disguised as a piece of candy and turning our youth into moral-less-diabetics.)

America is the birthplace of a generation of youth brainwashed to desire ill-gotten fame and pseudo-success for the sake of status.



America (and our world) is where every human emotion has a prescribed medication to go with it and a piece of paper from a school determines your worth as a human being. I love to talk about what I experience in real life, in my songs. The main thing is I don't give a shit if you like it or not because chances are, you're too stupid to be my friend anyway.
