Fake Teak comprises Andrew Wyld, Chris McInnes and Andrea Adriani, a team fast emerging as amongst the most innovative purveyors of electro-beat in London.
Their precision-engineered sound consists of decadent vocals, neatly layered textures, subtle beats and distinctive harmonies.
Pithy, original lyrics are delivered by Andrew Wyld’s powerful voice, which has been likened to Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand, and even Iggy Pop.
Integral to the Fake Teak sound, Chris McInnes’ intricately woven synth lines have been compared with early Cure and Simple Minds.
But Fake Teak’s influences are even more eclectic than this. Sounding like the love-child of Talking Heads and MGMT, Fake Teak has taken the opulent soundworld of 80s electronica and brought it bang up to date.
The result:
A cool veneer. A pulsating rhythmic heartbeat.
