the young austrian band FALB FICTION publish their second CD called „lost control“ in march 2008. two years after their successful debut “waiting for”, the musicians have come together again to record new pieces and realise ideas that have been developed together.
as before, saxophone player and band leader Viola Falb is in charge of the compositional work. she gives her group, which includes Philipp Jagschitz (piano), Christian Wendt (bass) and Herbert Pirker (drums), a new musical appearance and once again manages to put the strengths of the individuals and of the whole group into the focus of attention. she therefore employs varied and complex compositions, more freedom for improvisation and a mixture of various stylistics.
due to a large number of concerts, the four musicians have blended into a throbbing unit, creating space for open-minded improvisation. new ideas are taken up immediately and are further developed, the soloist is accompanied and supported with diligence, and the so-created tension culminates in joint outbursts of energy. the recording is marked by carefully arranged compositions, a multi-dimensional basis for improvisation, catchy grooves and a gripping atmosphere.
„Lost Control“ does not mean that FALB FICTION have completely lost control, but that the four musicians lose control voluntarily in order to make use of the moment of deliberate freedom of thought and action as a musical and creative act. weightlessness embraces some kind of vagueness which goes beyond the parameter of worldly existence.
in 2006 FALB FICTION was chosen the „European Jazz Newcomer“ and consequently played on the main stage of Hradec Kralove Jazz Festival in front of an enthusiastic audience. this performance was followed by a large number of concerts in Austria as well as in foreign countries: Athens, Istanbul, Ankara, Trencin, Cserfö, Porgy & Bess Vienna, Radiokulturhaus, BA/CA Kulturforum, Jazzfest Vienna, Jazzfest Wiesen,….

hi viola! ja, ich bin noch da! und es ist momentan echt super. ich empfinde berlin gerade extrem dynamisch; und es sind so viele tolle junge musiker hier, die echt SUPER spielen! mir macht..s echt spaß. aber was ich so höre, geht..s ja in wien zur zeit auch ganz gut zur sache! liebe grüße und eine schönen herbst, janko
