In the year 2000 I had almost given up. I had been acting for over 5 years and couldn't get one agent to look at me. HOLLYWOOD HAS LEFT ME ALONE. So I kept hearing stories of Sly Stallone writing Rocky, and Ben and Matt writing Good Will and I thought I would write a script with myself in it.
So I did...and over a year later with about 4 feature length screenplays under my belt I started sending out query letters. I couldn't get one agency to read a script. NOT ONE! So then I said screw it. I am going to direct a script I wrote with myself in it.
I spent the next two years doing 8 or 9 really bad short films. No education, no equipment, just me and a couple friends and a home depot light with a borrowed camcorder. After almost 10 short films (each getting better than the last) it was time to step my game up.
Now 5 years later I own all my own equipment and have played in festivals across the country from Chicago to New York, to Toronto to Seattle and plenty more. I have a resume of films under my belt each better than the last and have just completed my first feature which is in post currently.
