       Fallen U.S. Soldiers 的自我介紹
    關於我:

The focus of this page is to honor, respect and forever remember over 5,000 America's sons and daughters who have answered our nation's call to serve but have not survived their deployments due to paying the ultimate price for all of us, and the liberation of others.

On this page you can find information concerning a fallen's name, rank, age at death, unit he/she was assigned to, place of birth/death, date and cause of death (killed, died of wounds, non-combat related incident), pictures, and url/links to their individual MySpace pages (if available).

It is important to know these courageous men and women lived, recognize them as well as their accomplishments - both in civilian and military lives, tell their stories, and share the pain their loved ones will carry for the rest of their lives.

Regardless of how you feel about the military, the war, the politicians, etc., this page is a sobering reminder of the high price our American volunteers have paid serving our country, and a relief that at least in death we are able to render them a type of respect they might not have received in life.

    The mission:

  • To post daily bulletins about service members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have been confirmed killed/dead by the United States Department of Defense.

  • To provide news and blogs about the current ongoing conflict both in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom; "OIF") and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom; "OEF") and the affects it made on thousands of American families.

  • To post the faces of those who have fallen, and show the true human cost of war.

  • To ensure America’s younger generation will know of their sacrifices and how these heroes lived their lives prior to making the ultimate sacrifice.

  • To reflect on the people who have made the ultimate sacrifice in previous battles of our nation (World War II, Vietnam War, Korean War, Gulf War, Desert Storm, etc.)

  • To raise an awareness of service men and women fighting and dying overseas.

  • To preserve their legacy and pay tribute to their families.

  • Click here to view all my currently posted DoD releases and other related news

This page is neither anti-war or pro-war. It is a look inside something that most of us never think anything about: what happens when a U.S. military service member is killed in battle. As you read these lines, there are still troops in harms way who are giving their sweat, tears, and blood. Every single American citizen needs to see this page.
Everyday, we are told about the number of military personnel lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. After a while, hearing this information becomes something that we really don't hear. It's just another piece of news and unless it effects you directly, it probably goes in one ear and out the other. This site kind of hits you in the face and reminds you that these numbers are real people - maybe not your friends, family, lovers, neighbors, but they are those things to other people. People should take a look at this page to realize what they owe to so many good men and women that are too easy to forget about because we are so busy trying to satisfy our own contemporary lives. A lot of times they never get the thanks they so greatly deserve.

Again, this isn't about politics, or numbers, or strategy. This is about brotherhood and sacrifice, duty and loss, about soldiers fighting side by side for the men to the left and right of them. The page can be very painful, as the death of a serviceman always is to those who've experienced it. But the more personal look at each fallen service member's life is something to be really grateful for. Everyone of these people has left a hole that can never be filled. They did not choose their battles nor did they question the objectives of the war, they did exactly what they were told to do. They served while not asking for anything back. The very least we can do for them is remember them.

"Let us never forget, or take for granted the price of freedom, over two centuries of blood, sweat, and tears. Let us never forget those men and women who love their country so much that they've died for it."

Each and every one of these men has a story behind them. The page provides only basic information about their lives and the final journey which ended it all. Since there are too many stories to tell - that are similar in a lot ways, yet never the same - it is highly advised to google each individuals' stories.

This tribute is dedicated to these men... and all those who loved them. For the names of the fallen can blur together if you stare at them long enough. The carnage seems so relentless, so agonizingly sad.

    Total U.S. Fatalities: 5,293

    Operation Iraqi Freedom: 4,365
    Operation Enduring Freedom: 928

    (Updated November 25, 2009)

The roll that bears their names — and 5,293 others since the spring of 2003 — offers a poignant treatise on sacrifice and a grim reminder that there will be more names to follow.

Here is someone's child, someone's spouse, someone's parent. Here is a cause with chapters still unwritten and rosters far from filled.

    Here are the fallen.

Tribute to the Fallen - Some Gave All

    MOST RECENT CASUALTY:

    Photo: Specialist Julian L. Berisford

A 25-year-old Fort Richardson soldier from West Virginia, Spc. Julian Berisford, was killed in eastern Afghanistan Wednesday when his platoon came under fire while on patrol.

The infantryman was married and had a daughter about to celebrate her first birthday. The online edition of the Intelligencer of Wheeling, W.Va., said Berisford had scheduled his two-week leave for next week so he could be home for the party.

Now his family and friends are mourning his death.

Photo: Julian Berisford sits with his wife, Gina, and their daughter, Mya.

"It's like our heart has been torn out," Berisford's cousin, Randi Jo Chavanak, said. "The only thing he said before he left was that he was going to do things right for families like ours. He was going to fight for families."

According to a prepared statement from Fort Richardson, Berisford joined the Army in August 2007 and initially served at bases in the South. Twelve months later, he was a paratrooper assigned to the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) at Fort Richardson. He deployed to Paktika province in March with C Company of one the brigade's battalions, the 3-509th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

The Army said he was killed by a rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire in Paktika's Bermal District, a Pashto-speaking region with a long border with Pakistan.

Berisford was the 12th soldier of the brigade to die in combat since it began its deployment in February. His battalion lost two soldiers July 4 when Taliban forces attacked their mountain fortress.

"He was so proud - just the proudest soldier there was," Chavanak said. "He was a hero."

Noting Julian was like a brother to her due to their four-month age difference, Chavanak said Berisford was a "fun-loving, always happy, wonderful" man who enjoyed hunting and fishing. "Every time he got a chance, whenever he was home, that's where he was," Chavanak said.

Julian's classmate and friend, Matthew VanFossen, also called the soldier a hero.

"I'm very proud of him," VanFossen said. "He was just a great person, and he just had a daughter and he just loved her. It's just very sad."

"It is, in a way, an odd thing to honor those who died in defense of our country in wars far away. The imagination plays a trick. We see those soldiers in our minds as old and wise. We see them as something like the Founding Fathers, grave and gray-haired. But most of them were boys when they died. They gave up two lives---the one they were living and the one they would have lived. When they died, they gave up their chance to be husbands and fathers and grandfathers. They gave up their chance to be revered old men. They gave up everything for their country, for us. All we can do is remember." - Ronald Reagan

"The sight of flag-draped coffins is, and should be, a sobering reminder to all Americans of the ultimate sacrifice our troops have made and the high price of our freedom." - Paul Rieckhoff (IAVA)

"This is my charge to all of you. We need to spread the word of the soldiers who are still fighting... Our soldiers here depend on the support of our loved ones back home... Tell everyone you know of the trying times our brothers are facing. Tell everyone of the heroism of the soldiers who lost their lives and of the soldiers who are fighting to recover what they have lost."
    USMC - Afghanistan

    ..

"God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you, and whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating. Hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts, to prove to us, He only takes the best."

Do not stand at my grave and forever weep.
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn’s rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and forever cry.
I am not there. I did not die.

We shall never forget those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for all of us.  Say a prayer for the fallen, for it is by their bravery we are able to.

    You are NOT forgotten.
Incidently,In Edmonton, where I live,we had a group of Canadian Soldiers return home from Afghanistan the other day. The Commander of the Unit said in a statement to the press, while on the tarmac....That the mission the Canadian forces
are sent to complete COULD NOT POSSIBLY be done without the intervention of US
troops. Our Forces cannot do what they do best without the support of US forces.
Thats not to say Canadian troops dont get their hands dirty.Believe me THEY DO.and they can die for it,as brutally as any soldier at times. But there are certain tasks that Canadian forces are trained for that cannot be accomplished without the initial support of our allies.

    A Military Thanksgiving

    We offer gratitude this day

    For blessings multiplied,

    For family, fellowship and friends

    Who remain by our side

    Through many separations,

    And distances so vast

That lesser love would be subdued.

    It's doubtful it would last.

We share these bonds of feeling

    That stretch between our souls

    When distance separates us

    As we pursue our goals.

But you have favored us with friends,

    And families that clutch

    Us close although we wander

    Around the globe so much.

So Lord this day we offer thanks,

And bow our heads in prayer.

We recognize that You're the source

Of all the love we share.

    B. V. Dahlen
