about the band....

Dreamy, kaleidoscopic soundscapes turn charged art-rock numbers like oil in water. The softest most intimate parts are drawn upwards where light ripples tenderly off every exposed surface. From each aspect, golden threads of harmony and refrain weave voice to guitar in delicate but sturdy webs of melody and instrumentation. The result is a fragrant blend of emotionally-fuelled songs; combusting brightly with every breath and carried far and wide on the melancholic wind billowing in every sail.

A forward-thinking variety of techniques and instrumentation provide a rich recorded sound reminiscent of a warmed OK Computer. Listen for vocally-driven tones rooted in the understated power of Jeff Buckley and dusted with the fragility of Damien Rice. Soaring vocals, close harmony and sensitive guitar detailing make for a delicious and inspiring performance which blurs the boundary of folk and rock, old and new.

Not forced nor scripted, Fallen View's songs are forged in a love of musicality and a gift for making music that people enjoy to hear. A yearning to create original, yet accessible music has earned Fallen View a niche in several different genres and acquired an eclectic, dedicated fan-base.

Formed in Nottingham in 2003, Fallen View later relocated to Bristol where fans witnessed packed performances at some of the South West’s most prestigious venues. Now based in the leafy suburbs of South-West London, Fallen View look certain to break big waves in the country’s capital. With over 7000 hits and 8000 listens to date, FV’s ever-popular myspace site plays host to over 5000 friends. With a brand spanking new website on the way and plenty of new material, 2008 looks to be a big year for this inspired and captivating band.

DRUMMER AND BASS PLAYER WANTED. Please message us with your details.

WHAT Y'ALL SAY:

'Wonderful simplicity... stripped of posture and overproduction. Shapes is a brilliantly odd kind of acoustic based ambient rock, a sound swirling like a fairground waltz in slow motion. The biting guitars of I'll Keep My Watch show that the band can master a range of sounds and emotions. I've fallen and I am sure you will too.'

- This is intriguing stuff. I'm impressed by the rather ingenious blending of vocals with string instrumentation - Sometimes I don't know where one begins, and the other ends. I appreciate the lush, layered sound

- Your sound possesses such a creative and passionate spirit! Your melodies are beautiful- such sweeping emotion

- ....you are guys are mind blowing!

- seriously awesome music, really really love the sound kind of captivating

- Enveloped in a musical blanket ...... delicious!

- dreamy and beautiful, just lovely!

- FANTASTIC! really great stuff totally refreshing to hear

- yet another class bristol bunch!

- you guys will go far!

The Kittiwakes - CD Launch - Clerkenwell 22nd June

Leigh-on-Sea 3-piece,
The Kittiwakes, celebrate the release of their Midwich Records debut, ‘Lofoten Calling’, a collection of original folk songs written about the people, landscape, folklore and history of the Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle and influenced by the traditional music of Norway and the British Isles.

'The Kittiwakes craft timeless and magical acoustically dappled folk treats - gentle and alluring ostensibly Gaelic in sound texture and gorgeously flighty braided as they are by corteges of mandolins, accordions and violins.' [LOSING TODAY]

'The Kittiwakes (rissa tridactyla): delicious, intriguing and evocative music, beautifully played and sung by this talented trio. Recommended to twitchers and lovers of folk music alike' [LEIGH FOLK FESTIVAL]

Hi there - I understand you guys know Mark and Andi?

Are you still looking for a drummer?
SANJURO

May 14 2008 11:53 AM

Hi there

Just to let you know that Sanjuro is playing a nice and important gig on Monday (19th May) in Kingston (it’s just ten minutes from Waterloo!!).

The grey horse is a very nice venue. Moreover it matters for us because we’ll play in Glasto if the gig goes well.

Come and enjoy a good night with us, the support would be well appreciated!

(btw, I love the cello on your songs...ah, if only I could increase the size of my viola!)
