Fallyrag had its beginnings back in the autumn of 2005 when two University College Falmouth students decided to embark on a creative space project. Its on-going, guiding mission was to give a place for naturally developing creativity and to avoid the trappings of being essentially fad-driven.
By New Year 2009 the space had developed online into ‘Fallyrag – The Creative Journal’ and was reaching a monthly audience in the thousands. Updated fortnightly, it showcased a wide variety of creative genres including, amongst others, fine art, photography, poetry & prose, illustration, music and craft.
Whilst still remaining largely submission-driven, the journal developed a style which allowed both unknown & established talent to emerge and evolve side-by-side. A composition of creative moments arose, from bedroom art right through to exhibition work.
In May, 2009, Fallyrag – The Arts & Culture Journal was launched. Whilst retaining the creative space, the journal has expanded its horizons, reflecting these changing times.
What, in some circles, has been described as the third perspective of Fallyrag is in fact an expansion of the creative space. New elements, including a House section for Creative Reviewing and Fallyrag at the Festivals, have arisen – alongside the Fallybabblers who’ll be keeping regularly updated blogs on creativity and culture.
As the community continues to grow, we hope that you, too, can be a part of the creative revolution and join the new outpouring of artistic talent, which is bursting into freedom even as you read. Fallyrag – The Journal Arts & Culture Journal is a field of new shoots and a family of change.
Rag on,
The Fallyrag Team.
