  • Bio

When his former band, uniSEF, disbanded in fall of 2009, Sef decided to take a break from the punk scene, possibly for good. Sef turned his focus to his family and to the development of a stronger worship team within his church's youth group. After some time had passed it was evident that Sef's desire to play punk rock had never left and that it was getting stronger by the day. With that, an idea that he had considered playing with for quite some time became the focus of his new project. Although punk bands had recorded remakes of old hymns and worship songs, Sef had never found an entire album that was dedicated to that idea. He started looking around and stumbled upon a thread on the HXCChristian.com forum that was called (Worship) punk. Within that discussion it became very clear that there was a desire for something like that within the scene, and that there had never been a punk rock band that dedicated an entire album to the remake of hymns, that was about to change. In March of 2010 Sef received an email from a guy named David who was a fan of uniSEF and had seen Sef's comments on the HXCChristian.com forum. David was hoping to start a new record label that would be devoted to Christian Punk. He proposed releasing the first CD of Sef's newly formed project on his new label called Thumper Punk Records. The offer was a bitter-sweet moment for Sef. He had not really wanted to have another project that would become overly involved or serious, but on the other hand, he had never been offered a recording contract either. Initially Sef was hesitant to take his new project to this level, but after some discussion with his supportive wife and some serious prayer, he decided to give it a shot and False Idle was born. After a summer of writing and recording, a CD called "Hymns of Punk Rock Praise" was released on Thumper Punk Records in September of 2010. Much to Sef's surprise, Hymns of Punk Rock Praise started to get some very positive feedback with reviews from Indie Vision Music, Jesus Freak Hideout, and even making HM Magazines "Pick of the Litter" column in the November/December 2010 issue. The solo project was a great introduction to the capabilities of what False Idle had to offer, but due to the overwhelming response to his initial EP release, Sef decided to make some major changes to False Idle in 2011. Sef contacted his old friend, and former band mate, Tyler, as well as the drummer from the Hymns EP, Matt, about possibly joining him for some shows. They gladly accepted. Sef then sent out a call for a bass player. Fellow worship leader and new friend, Seth W., expressed an interest in the project. Shortly thereafter Seth's place within the group was solidified. The Future of False Idle: False Idle is once again joining forces with Thumper Punk Records, along with Indie Vision Music, for a brand new mini-EP of all original songs that will initially be available for free download exclusively on the indievisionmusic.com web site. False Idle is also in the planning stages of a possible summer West coast tour, as well as a brand new full-length Hymns of Punk Rock Praise (Volume 2) CD release for later this year. .. ..
