Biography & Recent Updates

False Pretence, from The Midlands, UK, can't be pinned down to any specific genre. What shines through is a well rounded, catchy and powerful set of songs with essence of the many rock based genres and bands that have influenced each individual member. With False Pretence you can be sure to get a bit of everything in sound and performance.
Guitarist Adam Wain (Ad G), bassist Ryan Hicks and drummer Chris Boote met when assigned to one-another to form a band as part of a college project. Having gone their separate ways but remaining friends since college they decided to reform the band but with a new direction. Attempting to keep their previously assigned singer, who had a few commitment problems, didn't work out so well. The lads could only presume he didn't share the same passion and began the search for a new singer.
Having lived abroad without the ability to exercise his voice for over a year, singer Adam Willden (Ad S) spent his first days back in the UK searching for a band to fill the void. The timing couldn't have been better and surely enough after a few emails and an audition Ad S joined Ad G, Chris and Ryan.
The lads then agreed that another guitarist would enhance their sound. Paul Geheb has been a friend to the band for a while (but was involved in other musical commitments), and when asked to try out he jumped at the chance. After the first practice, he was in.
False Pretence, formed in September 2009 and immediately began writing new tracks to get their music out there and get on the road. As soon as the initial 7 song set became solid and with a few tracks professionally recorded for promo, FP set out to get in the public eye and get a reaction; And what a reaction they got.
