Four young talented artists make up the unique Hip Hop group F.A.M. What started as a hobby has turned into a movement as four rappers (Jason “J Star” Blackwood, Mark “Kaliba” Kurian , Chris “Young C” Smalls, and Shawn “SP” Parsons) do what ever they can to accomplish their dreams. From club songs, to love songs, to songs you just want to dance to, F.A.M is well known around the New Jersey area for making their commercial hits. Each artist’s background dates back to years before the actual group was formed. As residents of Englewood, New Jersey J Star, Chris Smalls, and SP started rapping for fun during the late elementary school days. One town away (Teaneck, New Jersey) Kaliba had also been rapping as a hobby. During their freshman year in High School, Kaliba and J Star met up and started a group, but felt as though it wasn’t complete. Chris Smalls and SP soon completed the now well-rounded “F.A.M.”. Through more then years of tough work and hustle, F.A.M continues to stay on their grind. F.A.M believes “Do what you do and when you do it, do it well.”
The young men are 18-19 years old and have been working together as a group since the age of 15. Their five years together shows well when listening to the way their voices mesh together in songs such as “Hey Cutie.” From the internet to live performances at high schools and colleges, such as a recent performance at Columbia University, F.A.M. has been noted as a talented group set to make a name for themselves in the near future.
