   About Jakob Breitbach
A graduate of Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Jakob Breitbach has been teaching and performing music in the greater Puget Sound region on Western Washington for the last nine years. A native of Eastern Iowa, Jakob's background ranges from symphony halls to street corners. Born and raised in Dubuque County, Iowa, Jakob is the oldest of five fiddler/multi-instrumentalists who join their parents in The One Hat Band. He grew up busking on the streets of his hometown, with his sights set on the accomplished violin player he knew he would become. When he was eight years old, Jakob played one fiddle tune onstage with Bill Monroe, the grandfather of Bluegrass music. He has also shared the stage in an orchestra with Yo-Yo Ma. The most recent addition to his list of accomplishments is The Blackberry Bushes Stringband, an up and coming Old-time and Americana group of songwriters who tour regionally in the Pacific Northwest. Dubbed “The Sirens of Indie-grass”, Jakob’s fiddling drives the Bushes’ energetic, youthful sound. Jakob plays bluegrass fiddle with Cabin Kind, Jes Raymond and Her Famous Band, and the Bitterroots. He performs swing and Gypsy Jazz around Seattle with the Greg Ruby Trio, the Djangomatics, and the Hot Club of NowHere. As a member of Austin’s famed Asylum Street Spankers, Jakob (aka Famous Jake) toured the United States during 2008. While in Texas, he helped formed the Band House House Band, and irreverent blues and jugband he led with fellow Spankers Charlie King and Nevada Newman. An avid child music educator, Jakob currently resides as the Music and Arts Specialist at Seabury Academy in Brown’s Point, WA. There he teaches K-6th grade music classes utilizing Kodaly, Dalcroze, Orff, and Suzuki Methods along with traditional North American and African folk music. Famous Jake!!
How ya been! Hope you got Indy on your schedule soon!
This recording is from when I got to open for you guys in Indy! Check this out!
Here is a cut and paste from an email I received last week.

"Dear Chris,
The International Songwriting Competition (ISC) has
announced its finalists today. Congratulations, the song "Spotless" that you
entered in Comedy/Novelty has been selected as a finalist.

Being selected an ISC finalist is an accomplishment
that acknowledges true songwriting talent. With only 287 finalists chosen out of
over 15,500 entrants, this is an extraordinary achievement, and we are very
pleased to offer our congratulations."

Are you kidding me?!!! I couldn't believe it! You
should check out some of the judges. Tom Waits! Rob Thomas! Sandra Bernhard!
Weird Al! KT Tunstall! David Brenner! Ray Davies! Loretta Lynn! The list goes on
and on!
Billy Harvey won this for the Rock category in 2005 for "Frozen
Through".

So if you go to this link http://www. songwritingcompetition. com/PVWelcome2008. htm and click
"listen to the finalist songs and vote", you can vote for my song!! It's called
"Spotless". They are in alphabetical order so it's kinda down there. (Near the
S's!)

You have to enter your email and then open a
verifying return email to vote but you only do that once and then you can vote
once a day till March 31st.
Help me get a respectable turnout! You know you
need the good Karma!

Don't we all?!

Peace!
Chris!

P.S.-Tell all your friends and
family!!

Here's the video of the recording!!
