Famously Haunted is an organisation that has one objective.
To recognise those individuals, organisations and locations in the field of the paranormal who have contributed positively to its profile.
Be that through the media, academically or in another way.
Famously Haunted will approach the people they feel deserve recognition in their field by way of a myspace friends request. If accepted the individual, organisation or location will receive an 'Officially Famously Haunted' Certificate, exclusively designed for them to display on their My Space/Website in honour of their achievement.
We hope in this small way we can give back to them, from the paranormal community, a token of our gratitude for their work.
Famously Haunted award winners will be listed in general, music, films, and television and books sections of this My Space (clicking on an award winners name will also take you to their website or a relevant website where applicable). Due to the fact that we now have more award winners than spaces on our My Space ‘Top Friends’ list, we are now unable to feature award winners only on our ‘Top Friends’.
Instead Famously Haunted will now be using the ‘randomise’ feature on our ‘Top Friends’ list to try and include all of our friends.
Famously Haunted also accept nominations from people they may not have approached in the form of a My Space message or friends request. If you request a nomination please send us a message stating why you feel the person you are nominating deserves an award and also give us time to look into the background of the nominee.
Initially we were only adding friends who had received a Famously Haunted award on our MySpace friends list…this has now changed!
General MySpace friend’s requests will be accepted and friends of Famously Haunted will be added, but to keep the seperation between award winners and friends a little clearer, friends will not receive an award certificate, have a link added in the 'Award Winners' section of our MySpace or be added to the 'Halls Of Fame' on our Official Website.
Paranormal Groups, Organisations and Spiritual Organisations and Personalities who are friends will however now have a link added in our ‘friends’ links section.
This may not be an indefinite policy though…who knows…one day a friend may achieve an award through their work in the paranormal in the not so distant future!
To avoid further complications, if you send us a friends request you will be informed by a My Space message if you are being added as an award winner or as a friend.
I hope this makes things a little clearer…we have the best intentions at heart, and are trying to include the paranormal community as a whole as a part of Famously Haunted, whilst still being able to honour those who we feel have made great contributions and achievements in their field.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Whilst we sincerely hope that this would never be an issue for any of our Awardees, Famously Haunted must prepare for any eventuality.
Famously Haunted reserves the right to recind a Famously Haunted award from any member, at any time.
Given the intensive nature of our original research, this is unlikely to occur, however, the circumstances under which the award would be revoked are:
*The Awardee displays conduct that brings the paranormal community into disrepute.
* The Awardee creates dissention amongst members of the paranormal community.
Should accusations be made of this kind of behavior, Famously Haunted will conduct research into the event. Should the accusation be founded, the award will be rescinded immediately and the awardee advised to remove the award from their site and any associated media.
