Fancey completes work on new album, prepares for live performances, unveils secret weapon:
Todd Fancey of the New Pornographers is about to release his 3rd solo album, but this time he has company. Anastasia Siozos is taking over the lead vocals and Todd is very glad about that. "I'm not the frontman type," Todd freely admits,"With Anastasia I can have more fun live, which, when it comes to my solo music, is a first!"
The tunes on the 3rd Fancey record still give a nod to the '70's AM gold featured on his earlier albums. This time around, there's a much more direct, modern, upbeat and sometimes flat-out danceable energy in the mix. Anastasia's voice works wonders with Todd's beautiful melodies, gleaming with eternal sunshine and youthfullness as she leads on most tracks and blends beautifully with Todd on others.
Todd’s previous two solo albums Fancey (2004) and Schmancey (2007) were played regularly on college radio stations in the United States as well as internationally.
In addition to recording and touring with The New Pornographers Todd also recently wrote a song for the emmy-nominated Dinner Party episode of NBC’s The Office. He also wrote and produced a piece of music for the upcoming series Caprica which is the prequel to the Battlestar Galactica television series.

Hiya Todd - we've posted up a few videos of some acoustic versions of our songs if you fancy a butchers...sorry if you fancy a LOOK! We're all off to see Carl Newman tomorrow nite too - cool A x
Coachella was great this year (Leonard Cohen! Public Enemy! My Bloody Valentine!), but not quite the same absent the contingent from Canadia- The New Pornographers and Stars and Metric glittered in years past-
Looking forward to Caprica, and to the album- are you sticking with the Witches' Night name? Anyway-
I think you should! For us, this summer is when we plan to start live shows. I've just decided to switch between keyboard & guitar whilst singing - it's where to put the damn mic stand! If only we could dupe ourselves sometimes! All the best Todd. A xx
I would love nothing more than to play some shows with you, the mere thought of it has made me start smoking again(!). It would be unfair of me not to say that Ozone Baby has'nt played live before but my plan is to begin gigging this year & I have just recruited 3 band members, turning this from a solo project to a four-piece & we are rehearsing right now. Lets keep in touch about this - meanwhile - all the best for April 11th - I wish I could be there. Love A x
Thanks Todd - you made my day......again! And as for your latest blog - you're so right on the money I dare'nt allow myself to comment - I'd never stop! Lotsa love, A xx
