1985 was not only the year that saw Madonna rise to the top, but also the year of another special event that took place in a Turkish family in Belgium: the birth of Hadise Acikgoz. Listening to the cries of the new born baby it soon became clear that the talent was already there. The very well known notes do-re-mi-fa-sol resounded very quickly in the living room.
No wonder that, outside the love for horse riding, singing lessons became a high priority for the young Hadise. After completing the studies of 'Economics & Modern Languages' Hadise immediately wanted to pursue her biggest passion "my parents understood that singing was totally my thing. The plan grew to go to a German Music Academy for an appropriate training. Unexpected circumstances forced me however to abandon this plan." This setback didn't hold back this fan of foreign languages and different cultures to realise her dream step by step.
A refined voice and endless perseverance seasoned with the necessary realism led to the participation on the counterpart to 'Pop Idol' in Belgium. 'Idool 2003' was broadcast on Belgians largest commercial television station VTM. Hadise didn't make it to the final 10 but her enthusiasm and her brio did not remain unnoticed. The people behind the 2Brains Entertainment Group, also managing Kate Ryan world-wide, were so impressed by the performance of Hadise during 'Idool 2003' that Johan Hendrickx, managing director of the company, soon offered her an artist deal. Producers Yves Gaillard and Serge Ramaekers took Hadise to the studio for intense recording sessions. The choice of music fell on a very new style called Urban-Pop. A recent development in Europe that Hadise could connect to straight away. Her favourites: Christina Aguilera, Brandy and Beyoncé are never far away, but also Prince, Janet Jackson, Tina turner, Alicia Keys, Toni Braxton, Jamiroquai, U2 are influences for Hadise's music.
Even a considerable amount of classical, rock -, soul - and world music are blended in. In combination with her musical career Hadise, who talks fluently Dutch, French, German, Turkish and English, is studying Marketing in Hasselt. Her free time is dedicated to music, writing music and lyrics, hanging around the recording studio and attending concerts but she also loves fitness, going out with friends and making lots of fun with her two sisters, her brother and her mum… Hadise's first single Sweat was an instant bulls-eye: dance hit on Radio Donna and Studio Brussel wore it out. The rap in this number is of none other than Raw Jawz. In the meantime we have all heard the second single Stir me Up. This time the number was not only written by Yves Jongen, but also by Hadise herself. The production was carried out jointly by three American producers: Leroy Cambers, D. Meezee and Mo Benjamin who worked on it in their studios in France and the States. In addition Stir me Up is backed up with an exceptional sweltering and sexy video-clip that was promptly bombarded a Superclip at TMF. During the summer holidays Hadise spent all her free time in the studio, working on her album with Yves Jongen. All the songs have now been written, recorded and fully refined. And as from 9th September the new single Milk Chocolate Girl will be in the shops. This song came about during the recording of the album SWEAT, which will appear at the beginning of November. During the long days in the studio Hadise frequently enjoyed a delicious piece of chocolate between sessions. This became a sort of daily ritual. Hadise got a lot of pleasure from this and regained her strength. One day she turned to her producer and said: "Chocolate is so delicious. I really couldn't do without it". With a smile he answered: "What's this infatuation women have with chocolate?" The following day Milk Chocolate Girl was written. The lyrics were written by Yves Jongen and Hadise herself. The number was produced by Yves Gaillard. We can now definitely state that Milk Chocolate Girl is a hit in the making. Studio Brussel immediately singled out the number and has given it high rotation. Radio 2, Radio Contact and Radio Donna haven't been hanging back either and there, this new single is also skimming new heights.
