Fancy Piece Productions is a circus burlesque company that exists to challenge the lines.
Hitting prejudices and assumptions about sexuality and power head-on, we blasphemously and irreverently call up Jesus, Satan, corrupted cardinals, tormented priests, silver-winged beasts, ink-throated beauties, crack whip-wielding warriors, golden gods, volcanic breasts, kings in chains and even cowboys beating a lonely range, in the name of Fancy Piece Productions.
Often awash in blood and glitter, Fancy Piece combines elements of burlesque, theatre, spoken word, circus, fetish, drag and striptease into tales of transformation and desire, passion and control.
Our audiences are ravished by a banquet of sex, glamour and politics and a good iron fisting in velvet gloves.
Fancy Piece Productions is the unholy union of Holly Bennett and Simone Craswell.
You can find us doing our decadent burlesque in night clubs, dark theatres, and fevered fetish bacchanalias. We have even been seen by daylight roving streets.
Fancy Piece has worked diverse venues and glorious events such as Gurlesque, King Victoria, Hellfire Sydney, Hellfire Resurrection, Melbourne Fetish Expo, Sydney Leather Pride Festival, 34B, The Phoenix Theatre, The UnHinged Short Plays Festival, Glamour Pour le Hammer, The Merrigong Theatre Company's Treasures From The Vault 06, Gendermash 09, Midsumma Carnival 09, Queer Central and the Under The Blue Moon Festival Cabaret at The Vanguard.
Fancy Piece was formed in 2006 when Holly and Simone left positions as administrator and performance co-ordinator with Circus WOW in protest over the censorship of works exploring sexuality.
Holly has a background in performance, writing, and theatre. She directs, and creates dazzling and shattered stilt-creatures, scorching drag kings, and sequinned nightmares on aerial apparatus.
Simone is first and foremost a performer but is also a director, writer, administrator and event co-ordinator. She has a background and degree in theatre and film.
