Iconoclastic communist reverence, confused sexual theory, choppy ballads over lush beats, foolhardy Taoist shock therapy – all these are the modes of ZEN. In 2002 Beijing visual artist and Chinese rock music pioneer, Fang Ke, arrived in the United States, and bassist Qiu Wei Ming and Drummer Zhang yang ,soon followed, Together in NYC they have been methodically constructing "Zen Rock" as a means of plying American culture with Chinese values. Plotting digital synchronization on rock 'n' roll chaos, ZEN's sound is 2 parts musique concrete and 1 part dirty beats.
