My friend Becky made this for me and I thought it was cool!!
Writing poetry, spending time with my family, reading, listening to music...all kinds of stuff!
Music
I like a very wide variety of music! Pop, rock, alternative, even some Beethoven. If I like it, I like it...the only exception is country...hate it, hate it, hate it!!!Some of my favorites would be: The Cure, Depeche Mode, Gwen Stefani, No Doubt, Led Zeppelin, The Chemical Brothers, Madonna, Eminem, Sarah MacLaughlin, Justin Timberlake...the list goes on and on!
Movies
Again, I like a lot of different types of movies. Horror, comedy, romance, action...if it's good, I like it. Exception: not a big fan of Sci-fi! Some of my all time favorites would be: The Outsiders, Saw (all), The Rocky Horror Picture Show and, of course, pretty much anything with Johnny Depp in it ;)
Television
CSI, Law and Order: SVU, American Idol (Guilty pleasure..hehe), Days of our Lives, SNL, The Ellen DeGeneres Show (just love her!)
Books
I like all kinds of books from True Crime to historical romance, smut novels (a la Jackie Collins)..it depends on my mood.
Heroes
Anyone that isn't afraid to be themselves, are open minded and don't pretend to be something they are not!
Hi and welcome to my space! I'm 29 years old and holding..lol. I live in Boringville, NY, with my fabulous husband and wonderful little girl. I love to write poetry, read, listen to music, blogging and reading others blogs. I'm a quiet person (well, kinda...lol), love to spend time with my family and like to avoid a lot of drama.
Who I'd like to meet: I enjoy meeting people that are interesting and genuine. I'm honest and expect the same from others. When referring to "celebrities" though, I would have to say I'd love to meet Adam Sandler, Madonna, Robert Smith and Johnny Depp ;)
This stand of burnt trees actually represents new life. Redwood seeds need three things to germinate: rich fertile soil, water, and fire. The fire clears the underbrush of the forest floor and gives new redwoods room to sprout and grow. This fact of nature is also true with our own lives. Sometimes we need to clear away the old underbrush of our lives that is keeping us from growing. This allows us to start our lives new and fresh, and to grow.
I often ask myself, why do many people see raining days as a negative thing? The rain revitalizes the world around us and helps it to grow. We all need the water that the rains bring to us. Instead of complaining about the rainy day and looking at it negatively we should look at all the positive things that it brings to us. This positive outlook can also be carried over into other areas of our lives. We are quick to complain about lots of things. If we just realized that everything around us has positive aspects also then we would be a lot happier.
Many people struggle against the current of the river of life. What they don’t realize is that if they just relax and flow with the current things will be much easier. Yes, the river of life may flow though some rough waters or around a bend that you didn’t expect, but I still think flowing with the river instead of struggling against it is a lot easier in the long run. I hope that you have a great weekend.
Many times we humans envy birds for that ability to take to the sky and fly above it all. Sometimes our lives become so difficult that we wish that we could just fly away. What we have to remember is birds fly because that is what they do naturally, and we have our own natural ways of dealing with life’s difficulties. I hope that you have a great weekend.
Our lives are like trees in many ways. Everything that we are springs forth from our trunk. The branches are the different paths that we take and experiences that we have in our lives. As long as we have strong roots, the branches of our lives will eventually sprout leaves that will give us chlorophyll to nourish our soul.
Sometimes we forget to appreciate our environment and the people around us. We need to spend time noticing and appreciating everything that we see. We can find something positive in every person, every situation, and every environment if we have an open mind, open heart, and open eyes. I hope that you have a great weekend.
Sometimes you just have to take some time to relax. To that end, I am taking a couple of days off next week to recharge my batteries. I hope that all of you have a great weekend.
In life we may walk down the same path every day, but do we really know where that path is leading us? I hope that whatever path you are on, it leads to having a great weekend.
As the sun sets and we look forward to the first weekend of this new year, let us not lose site of the resolutions that we have made and the goals that we have set for ourselves to accomplish in 2008.
Sometimes we must remind ourselves to be patient. A beautiful flower does not grow overnight, but given the right amount of patience, we can make many flowers “bloom” in our lives.
Most of the time, our lives require us to “do” so much. So sometimes, it is good to just sit and do nothing as you watch the beauty of this world as it surrounds you and gives you a big worldly hug. I hope that you have a great weekend.
The Native Americans even used the rock formations to teach lessons. This rock formation was called the Tower of Silence. At a certain age the braves would climb up to the top of the tower and just listen to the sounds around them. The lesson here is that when we listen to our inner silence, all sounds become beautiful. I hope that you have a great weekend.
At one time in my life I was afraid of heights. As youcan see from this photo, I have faced that fear several times. Courage does not mean being fearless. I means being able to face your fear.
Thanksgiving will soon be upon us, and I thought that this week I would focus my thought on something that I am grateful for. I feel grateful for this gift that is my life, and I give thanks for all the beautiful places that I have seen and had the opportunity to photograph. I hope that you have a great holiday weekend.
Many people use there precious resources building watch towers. Then they man their watch tower and keep watch for something bad to happen in there lives. I say that instead of manning our watch towers and waiting for something bad to happen, we should use our resources to go out into the world and make something good happen. I hope that you have a great weekend.
When I visit very old structures like this, I can not help but be taken aback. I often wonder how people at that time in history could have conceived building such a structure before there were even machines to help them accomplish the feat. I guess that W. Clemet Stone was right when he said: “What the mind of man can conceive, and believe, it can achieve.” I hope that you have a great weekend.
As I traveled through the deserts of the American southwest, I was amazed at how much vegetation was growing there. I was especially captivated by all of the oddly shaped trees. I was amazed at the fact that some of these trees looked dead, but would spring forth with new life when the first rains fell upon them. Trees in general are some of the most resilient living things on the planet. Many Great thinkers have compared people to trees. When the storms of life come, some of us are like the willow. We sway with the winds, but we do not break. Others are like the mighty oak. We stand strong against the storms of our lives despite losing some of our branches in the process. Which tree are you? I hope that you all have a great storm free weekend.
I take many photos of subjects that others might find to be faulted. These photos of lava rock are a prime example. I am able to look past the faults and see the beauty in these things. I think that too often the first thing that we see about another person is their faults. I think that if we are able to accept the faults as part of the person then we will be able to see the person’s true beauty. I hope that you have a great weekend.
