Fantastic Fest is an 8 day festival of horror, sci-fi, fantasy and other genre films. We look upon ourselves as a film festival with all the boring parts cut out. The festival features around 60-70 features, and 30-40 short films, and includes a jury and an audience competition. In addition to the competition films, we also feature special guests and hollywood sneak previews. Last year we had the premiere of Texas Chainsaw Massacre: the Beginning with the cast and crew in attendance, a sneak preview of Apocalypto with Mel Gibson live in person and The Fountain with Darren Aronofsky live in person.
We will also host several parties, luncheons, galas and group outings (at least one for Barbeque) for out of town guests to get a taste of Austin and central Texas.

An official selection of the 2006 Fantastic Fest and given an "unconditional thumbs up" from DreadCentral.com and described as
packing more skeeviness in its brief 17 minute runtime than any movie I've seen in years," this low-budget labor of love was shot for $500 on a video camera. You can view it online now at Dread Central's broadband channel

I never did write to tell you guys how awesome Fantastic Fest 06 was for me. A really great line-up of films. I got to see an early cut of Apocalypto introduced by Mel himself. A legion of supportive, devoted horror and sci-fi film fans. And a movie theatre that serves the best damn milkshake I've ever had, and they bring it to your seat! Loved it. :-)
