About me:
Here I am. A lot of people have a lot to say and indeed a lot to write about me
HOWEVER
This is MY page, this is who I am:
writer (book in a serious 2nd draft pre publication, on hold til some legal and family stuff is resolved)
mother (boy, 10, girl, 6)
gypsy (have Chanel chain-strap bag, will travel)
citizen-in-exile (lived in Uganda, London, New York, Nairobi, Cape Town, back to gloomy London)
ex-Addict (but that's a day at a time and subject to a daily reprieve)
ex-con (served my time now leave me alone with your faux-justice)
My book ends now, after I was released from prison in Winter 07
I've done a lot:
Art Dealer, designer, writer, journalist, magazine editor. I went to prison because I committed crimes. In 2005 I was sentenced to prison, for pleading guilty to several counts of theft and perverting the course of justice.
My story is not different than that of many women, who use addiction and substances (including sex, men, shopping) and pain to stop feeling the void inside. It's just that I was written about a lot, because you see, I am "colourful, interesting." Prison gave me the chance to reshape my reality, from darkness through transformation to an authentic sense of self and triumph.
When you have been locked up, and we all have our personal prisons, be they chains of silver gold or diamond encrusted platinum, and you emerge, all you want is to breathe each breath as if it might be your last one. Step a little lighter, speak a little more softly. This is a fragile planet, this green earth. It makes you so strong and real to emerge from so much self inflicted darkness.
I attend the Kabbalah Centre in London regularly, my teacher, Rav Yzak and the others on Stratford Place have changed the way I approach my life and how I participate in the world. I want to shed light, not chaos.
Currently I am working on a capsule collection of twelve ready to wear women's garments, which will be launched in london in September 08 and will be in the shops in late Summer 09.
I am still designing and making one of a kind pieces, from organic denim or upcycled vintage pieces, which are hand painted and embellished and made in London. My work can be seen at www.moksa.co.uk and are available on-line. They are available at a couple of small and incredibly bling shops in London like Poison Angel in Knightsbridge and the fashion and Textile Museum in London.
Growing up? We can only hope.
