   About Farma
Hailing from San Francisco, Farma bills themselves as "Psych-Americana". What exactly is "Psych-Americana"? Start with the ethereal trippiness of your favorite psychedelic band: Floyd, Flaming Lips, Sgt. Pepper era Beatles and cross that ever so delicately with the rock and roll roots of The Band, Elliot Smith, or Tom Petty. Add a sprig of country & western, and serve.

Josh Holliday's signature voice blends with artful three part harmonies that never disappoint . David Domingos' haunting Rhodes and lead guitar stylings converge to form the underlying mystique and unforgettable melodies that are the foundation of Farma's unique sound. Add to that the powerful and poetic drums and percussion of the incomparable Mie Araki, and the stable grounding rhythms of Dominic Henri's richly textured bass grooves and what you have is pure "farma".

This unique blend of styles has graced the stages of such Bay Area venues as 12 Galaxies, Starry Plough (Berkeley), Red Devil Lounge (SF), and Last Day Saloon (SF and Santa Rosa). In December 2004, Farma released a 6-song EP and has since gained national distribution through Wishing Tree records.

P.R.E.S.S.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Now here's an idea that I would have never come up with on my own: psychedelic heartland rock. While farma's earnest vocals & jangly guitars remind me of Springsteen or Creedence, there's some post-Beach Boys/Stereolabby influences in there as well. The arrangements are spacious, often drenched in reverb, and frame the vocals quite well. If bands like farma could influence crap-meisters like Matchbox 20 and Counting Crows, I might actually listen to the radio once in a while."

-- Jeremy, 75 or less album reviews (http://www.75orless.com)

Josh Holliday delivers his illustrative narratives with a casual tongue letting the band's colorful arrangements build the restrained energy that is paradigmatic of their sound. A broad sonic palette is used by keyboardist/guitarist David Domingos to complement the rest of the band in a subtle & powerful way. Guitarist Tom Jaye rounds out the three part vocal harmonies that help to make these songs so likable. Bassist Dominc Henri's solid rhythmic interpretation of the harmonic statements laid down by Domingos, Holliday & Jaye acts as a sonic adhesive to the orchestral stylings of accomplished drummer/percussionist Mie. "Mie is the soul and the work ethic of this band." says Jaye. "Our shows are never complete without the crowd going nuts seeing this little Japanese chick taking a ferocious drum solo."

-- Jeff Kalmbach, Rasputin "Manifesto" magazine - March, 2005

"Farma is going to continue to create quietly infectious pieces of music, the kind that win over the hearts and minds of those who genuinely love music, and not just the fad of the week."

-- Grant Capes, Indieworkshop.com (http://indieworkshop.com)
