"Are these cats really farmers?" "Yes, indeed!" Their name reflects Zydeco's roots in southwest Louisiana's farming communities. Residing in Lafayette, Louisiana, the Creole Zydeco Farmers have traveled extensively throughout the world spreading their brand of Zydeco. They are one of a few bands today playing traditional Zydeco and they come to party whenever and wherever they play. They expect you to do the same ~ party.
The band, whose members started as backup players for accordion great, Fernest Arceneaux, features lead vocalist and accordionist, Warren Prejean. The Drummer, Clarence Etienne, affectionately known as "Jockey" was a studio drummer for the legendary Excello Record Label. He has recorded with many greats including Fats Domino, Katie Webster, Lazy Lester and Slim Harpo.
Currently, the Farmers have 8 CDs under their belt. A new release is scheduled for early 2008. Performing together for over 20 years, the Farmers have received numerous amounts of performance and achievement awards from around the globe. These cats are like fine wine. With age, they get better and better. They are a staple at the New Orleans Jazz Festival so do not miss them when they are in your town.
