Born in Manchester moved to London in early years, returned to Manchester in teenage years hence the distinctive sound in accent. Faro has always been into music as Motown, Gospel, Calypso, Reggae; Rap, R&B and Jungle were played around the house.
Karl John started rapping at the age of 15 going by the alias Fahrenheit, forming a garage crew called Knight Ryders, they held resident spots in clubs in and around the Manchester region. 2001 saw Fahrenheit hosting shows with fellow emcees and djs on Manchester pirate station Power Jam 103.5 FM and legal station ALL 96.9 FM. Becoming more recognised by his followers they began calling him Faro, short for Fahrenheit. The name Faro stuck and that’s what he is known by today.
In 2003 Knight Ryders went their seperate ways and in late 2004; Faro went solo featuring on various mixtapes with other grime and rap atrists from in and around the UK.
Faro’s biggest acheivement to date is in September 2006 when he went to Houston with Channel 4 to enrol in Mathew Knowles’ "Music World Boot Camp". Here he learnt from the best vocal coaches, choreographers and fitness instructors who have worked with established artists such as Michael Jackson, LL Cool J, Usher, Beyonce, Mario, Chris Brown, Omarion and Monica (to name a few). Faro was mentored by the like’s of Mathew Knowles, Rhymefest and Chamillionaire and worked with Music World’s in house producers the Bama Boyz and Cameron Wallace. The lessons learnt here were priceless and Faro continues to draw from this experience to date when writing his own lyrics and delivering his rhymes.
Currently Faro is working with a lot of producers and artists and has tracks rotating on BBC Manchester, X FM, Galaxy and on various DJ’s sets around the globe.
This year Faro has actively gained more experience in performing at various live shows accompanied by a full band and dj sets.
Live set held at the "Late Room" in Manchester- left crowd wanting more after 7 songs.
Supported Mark E. Smith and The Fall on 3 dates in Oxford and Manchester - five star reviews recieved.
Opened for Akon at his Manchester Concert.
PA’s at M2 in Manchester, Marlborough suite in Bradford and Bar D’Fusion in Leeds (here he was accompanied by his "hype man" Shugz (younger brother of Manchester’s old skool, MC Buzz B).
Faro has also been played on the Independent section of Steve Sutherland’s radio show on Galaxy FM
Faro enjoys keeping audiences from all walks of life entertained. He has attracted an array of followers who support his shows and mixtapes when released. Currently at the most fruitful time of his music career it has been agreed by all who meet him that this is just the beginning.
