Re-Issue of much acclaimed and vinyl only debut record release
First time digitally
Including sought after bonus tracks
When the German-Turkish band Faruk Green released 'On The Way to Uskudar' (Deck8) as a limited edition vinyl pressing in 1999, the sun started shining in cold Northern Germany. Filled with tracks of relaxed beauty and insightful charm, the album was not only stunning, but a passionate statement unheard in other music from that period.
Faruk Green have always strived for a free sound impression and their soulful intrumental record 'On The Way to Uskudar' laid the tracks for an uncompromised way of emphasizing sensuality. Herbie Hancock once said, 'Who wants to hear virtuosos anyway? I want to hear sincereness in music, passion, respect.' Adem Mahmutoglu, Engin Ozturk and Ozgur Dindar, the founding members of Faruk Green, embrace this belief.
The score for "Black Atlantic" sends a message. There are no musical categories. Don't ask where you are from. Respect traditions. Be hungry for the future. This message makes 'On The Way to Uskudar' a contemporary, yet timeless musical statement.
Now - ten years later - this Faruk Green episode is being reissued digitally for the first time by the label, 'minihorse records'. The release also features two bonus tracks from previous Faruk Green releases only available on 45's.
This is a rare chance to (re)discover a band that, at the time, got far too little attention for the far out spheres they created and, most importantly, are still pursuing.
