PENUMBRA (a shadow of a shadow) autobiographically illustrates the life of a Puerto Rican boy growing up in the Bronx who powerfully confronts issues concerning family and self-identity through rhythms of Hip-Hop and Poetry. His father has been gone for 5 years, only communicating through letters and collect calls. His mother is afraid to tell him the truth. Raised by a single parent, Anthony in turn is challenged to discover manhood by first understanding what it means to be a woman. Described as “Bold, daring, and fearless…truly innovative” by HBO Def Poetry's Producer, Kamilah Forbes.

ANTHONY FASCIOUS MARTINEZ is both writer and performer of the award winning Hip-Hop musical Penumbra which has received critical acclaim from HBO, The Village Voice, Time Out NY, NYTheatre, and notice on NBC Online, Daily News: Latino, and Jump Off TV. Fascious was recently a featured artist on VH1 and toured across the United States, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia while sharing the stage with artists such as KRS-One, Immortal Technique, M1 of Dead Prez, Lupe Fiasco, Talib Kweli, Rebel Diaz, and Saul Williams. As a Teaching Artist from the Bronx, Fascious has lectured and facilitated workshops at over 50 universities, educational institutions, and prison facilities. He is the recipient of 6 ACUI National Collegiate Poetry Slam awards as well as 3 Regional/National Collegiate Poetry Slam championship medals.
SHIDAN MAJIDI (Director) associate directed the North American tour of MISS SAIGON. He's currently the Production Associate for legendary producer, Cameron Mackintosh on Broadway and has worked on international hits such as THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, MARY POPPINS, LES MISÉRABLES, and CATS. His next directing project will be the world premiere of a play based on the best-selling novel, B-BOY BLUES.
CECILIA MARTA (Choreographer) is Founder and Artistic Director of the CECILIA MARTA DANCE COMPANY currently working as Casting Partner to CIRQUE DU SOLEIL and instructor at The Broadway Dance Center and Manhattan Movement/Arts Center. Cecilia has also taught her unique style of world jazz at the ALVIN AILEY AMERICAN DANCE THEATRE. Her works have been presented throughout the United States, Europe and Japan as well as Canada, North Africa, Central and South America, and Russia.
