Fatality Entertainment was began by Steven M. Rodriguez first in 2000, when he began using the alias "Fatal" with his crew the Lyrical Assassins (L.A.C.) As the groups sole producer and beat maker, as well contributing lyricist, he developed an emcee friendly style that real freestyle rappers and songwriters alike could rhyme to. Beats that don't outshine the artists, but not so lacking that you don't get the head-nod going. Feel me? Real Hip Hop by real Hip Hop fans.
I'm somewhere in between the mosh pit and the backyard boogie.
I grew up listening to a mixture of punk rock and 90's gangsta rap. I took up drumming in the 7th grade and began to learn how real music worked. Structure, timing, reading and writing music...it was like a drug to me. I taught myself as many instruments as I could. I played in several bands along the way, making a name for myself as solid percussionist. However, my real passion was Hip Hop.
I grew up listening to hip hop back when it was (in my opinion) in it's PRIME. The 80's gave us the blueprint - it laid out the plan and set up the structure. But between 1986 until 2000, maybe to 2004, hip hop was a thriving, multiplex. Somewhere between then it began to decay, and the ring tone rappers and posers took over. As an adolescent, I started beat boxing on the playground at lunch and pretty much any other chance I got. I got pretty good at it, and then started learning to rhyme. I began freestyling and by senior year of high school I was pretty much a force to be reckoned with (at least locally). I made my first beat that year - on my dad's pc. I started using programs like Fruity Loops and Acid Pro to make demo's of tracks and eventually I got pretty good with them. Now I crank out tracks like the one's your listening to right now.
