Biography

FATHER is a modern five-piece alternative/metal band born in the city of Rijeka, Croatia and are hailed by many official critics as being the top heavy act in the region of ex-Yugoslavia..

After narrowly missing out on performing at the great Lollapalooza festival in 2004 (finishing in 15th place after competing with more than 600 bands worldwide) things soon started to pick up for Father. Not long after, they won the qualifications for "Rock Otocec" festival in Slovenia, where 182 bands from all over ex-Yugoslavia competed to win the chance to perform with Apocalyptica, Stereo Mc's and Paul Di'Anno. It didn't take long for the band to grab the attention of local major record labels and in 2005, the band signed a record deal with "Dallas Records" (EMI/Virgin/V2/Mute exclusive licence partner in Croatia) which heralded the release of „INSPIRITA“, their first official album. In 2007, the album was re-released and distributed in UK by "Revol Records" and "Plastic Head". The album release was promptly followed by 5 European tours with altogether more than 150 shows, most of them being on UK territory. Interest for the band by both the public and critics grew in that period of time which could be marked by numerous support slots of which, sharing the stage with Korn, Anthrax, Skunk Anansie, Max Cavalera, Sisters of Mercy and a mini-tour with Blaze Bayley, certainly brings most fond memories and joy to the band members today.

International press included features in British "Metal Hammer", "Big Cheese"and also on the mighty "Blabbermouth" website alongside some great reviews in European metal magazines, but culmination came in the form of airplay on BBC Radio 6 that was hosted by the legendary Bruce Dickinson himself. It was he who hand-picked Father especially and played five of their songs from „INSPIRITA“ on five different occasions, giving them a chance and opportunity to be introduced to a worldwide audience that listened to this great show every Friday night.

After welcoming a new drummer in 2008 and spending two years of 'entombment' in a shelter where they practice, the five members are back and raring to go being proud owners of their second album "ONE EON". Shortly after the release, the album was placed high on Croatian critic's choices for the best album of the year to which the band responded in comedy that it seems like the critics love the album more than they do themselves.

Currently, the band are searching for a label that would release/distribute this album worldwide. Two singles from the upcoming album "ONE EON" have had exclusive promotion and airplay on the aforementioned radio show where both Father and the new album were highly recommended by Bruce Dickinson himself, the legendary frontman of IRON MAIDEN, one of biggest rock names in history of rock music! He higly recommended FATHER to all his listeners and announced the new album,
