About me:
Father G and the Homeboys chronicles the lives of 4 Latino gangbangers as they redirect their lives in a wartorn area of Los Angeles known as Boyle Heights, at one time, the street gang capital of the world. For over 20 years Father Gregory Boyle (Father G) and his non-profit organization "Homeboy Industries" have helped kids plan for their futures instead of their funerals.
Feel free to stop by and discuss whatever's on your mind at any time! I'm just getting started, but I hope the blog area will take off into some interesting discussions. :)
Is there any chance your movie will be at the Santa Barbara film festival or the Palm Springs Film festival? I am hoping that in 2008 you have free time to read my screenplay, "Terms and Conditions". Best to you, Sarita
Hiya! Thanks for building such a great page, for educating and organizing, and especially for keeping myspacians informed of all the interesting things that you are doing and offering concrete ways to help. All the best- peace- Pádraig + www.myspace.com/celtmann
I personally cannot wait for an opportunity to view your film. Congratulations on your early success. I purchased a first edition of Celeste's book several years ago and have shared it with many people.
I feel as though Father G's work, and the work of others such as Jonathon Kozol are what led me to teaching public school after my Catholic education in elementary and high school. I have been teaching public school and working in community action for most of the past decade.
Cheers and keep the faith.
I am so excited that you have made a film about Father G and the Homeboys. I'd love to do what I can to get your film shown here in Virginia. We have a very prestigious local theatre showing independent films called Vinegar Hill Theatre, as well as a Virginia Film Festival. I'd be happy to help you locate contact information for them.
